다우 김 교수의 연구실은 만성 비부비동염과 비루종의 면역학적 기전을 중심으로, 특히 IL-33, 호산구 및 호중구와 관련된 염증 반응, 그리고 네토시스(네트워크 형성)를 통한 조직 손상 메커니즘을 규명하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 비루종의 엔도타입(내피형) 분류와 바이오마커 기반 정밀의료 전략 개발에도 기여하고 있으며, 영상 소견과 임상 결과 간의 연관성 분석을 통해 치료 예후 예측 모델을 구축하고자 합니다. 이는 만성적이고 치료에 관성적인 비루종 환자에게 새로운 생물학적 치료 전략을 제시하고자 하는 학문적 목표를 담고 있습니다.

Our data suggest a role for IL-33 in the pathogenesis of CRSwNP via neutrophil recruitment. Therefore, anti-IL-33 may provide a new treatment strategy to target infiltrating neutrophils in CRSwNP.
