Dhiraj Kumar Chaudhary 교수의 연구실은 주로 미생물학 및 환경 미생물학 분야에서 활동하며, 특히 병원성 및 내성 미생물의 항생제 내성 메커니즘, 농장 및 가축에서의 병원성 대장균(APEC)의 유통 및 모니터링, 그리고 오염된 토양과 수자원에서의 유용한 생물정화 미생물(예: 기름 분해 박테리아)의 분리와 특성화에 중점을 두고 있습니다. 특히 극한 환경에서 생존하는 심한도성 박테리아의 생태학적 역할과 생물학적 특성 분석을 통해 환경 복원 및 항생제 내성 방지 전략 개발에 기여하고 있습니다.

In this study, high prevalent of antimicrobial resistant pattern was found with avian pathogenic E. coli strains isolated from broiler chickens. To our knowledge, this is the first molecular analysis which confirmed the prevalence of APEC strains in poultry sector in Nepal. These finding suggest the need of surveillance and intervention system to control misuse of antibiotics and APEC outbreak in the poultry farm.
In this study, a new diffusion bioreactor was developed to cultivate hidden bacterial communities in their natural environment. Out of 350 suspected cases of neonatal sepsis, 59 (16.9%) cases showed positive blood culture. A total of 38 chicken meat samples were studied in which 103 Gram negative bacteria were isolated. Species of Gram negative bacteria were identified as Citrobacter spp. (44.7%), Salmonella spp. (26.2%), Proteus spp. (18.4%), Escherichia coli (4.8%), Shigella spp. (3.9%), Pseudomonas spp. (1.9%), and Klebsiella spp. (1.0%). This study presents taxonomic description of two novel diesel-degrading, psychrophilic strains: Kopri-42<sup>T</sup> and Kopri-43, isolated during screening of oil-degrading psychrotrophs from oil-contaminated Arctic soil.
