Dong Hun Lee 교수의 연구실은 미생물 생태학과 세포·분자 생물학을 융합한 연구를 중심으로, 특히 16S rRNA 유전자 분석을 통한 박테리아 군집 구조 분석과 함께, 생체 내 산화 스트레스 반응 및 염증 조절 메커니즘을 규명하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 또한, 자연물 추출물(예: 적삼초 추출물)이 모낭 세포에 미치는 영향과 피부 건강에 대한 영향을 분자생물학적 기법을 활용해 연구하고 있습니다. 최근에는 공유 경제 모델의 사회적 영향 분석을 통해 데이터 기반의 소비 행동 연구도 수행하고 있습니다.

We describe a new method for studying the structure and diversity of bacterial communities in the natural ecosystem. Our approach is based on single-strand-conformation polymorphism (SSCP) analysis of PCR products of 16S rRNA genes from complex bacterial populations. Peroxiredoxin 6 (PRDX6) is a member of the PRDX family of antioxidant enzymes and correlated with inflammatory response. Therefore, we investigated the role of PRDX6 during lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute kidney injury. Both 3 months aged PRDX6-overexpressing transgenic mice (PRDX6 mice) and wild type (WT) mice had acute renal injury induced by intraperitoneal injection of LPS (10 mg/kg)., PRDX6 mice showed decreased mortality and renal injury following LPS challenge compared to WT mice.
