Dong Soon Lee 교수의 연구실은 백혈병, 골수형성이환질환(MDS), 다발성 혈관종 등 혈액계 종양의 분자 기전과 치료 전략을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 특히 BCR/ABL 유전자 재조합, IL-6 수용체의 유전자 이상, 스타틴의 항암 작용, 골수 미세환경의 염증 반응, 텔로미어 길이와 같은 분자 지표를 통해 질환의 진행 메커니즘을 규명하고 있습니다. 고해상도 유전자 분석 기법(FISH, NGS, single-cell 시퀀싱)을 활용한 정밀의료 기반의 혈액암 연구가 핵심입니다.

Fluorescence in situ hybridization for the BCR/ABL rearrangement in 138 bone marrow specimens from 59 Philadelphia(+) (Ph(+)) chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) patients, 35 Ph(+) acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) patients, and 57 Ph(-) ALL patients was used. Gene expression in the MDS BM microenvironment was different from that in normal BM and exhibited altered expression according to disease progression. The present study provides genetic evidence that inflammation and immune dysregulation responses that involve the interferon signaling pathway in the BM microenvironment are associated with MDS pathogenesis, which suggests BM MSCs as a possible therapeutic target in MDS.

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and plasma cell myeloma (PCM) have markedly higher incidences in Western countries compared with Asian countries.
