Recently, there has been increasing interest in the field of underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs), which is a basic source for the exploration of the ocean environment. A range of military and civilian applications is anticipated to assist UWSN. The UWSN is being developed by the extensive wireless sensor network (WSN) applications and wireless technologies. Therefore, in this paper, a review has been presented which unveils the existing challenges in the underwater environment. In this r
Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is suggested as a radio access candidate for future wireless mobile networks. It utilizes the power domain for user multiplexing on the transmitter side and adopts a successive interference cancellation (SIC) as the baseline receiver scheme, considering the expected mobile device evolution in the near future. However, recent research focuses more on the performance evaluation of NOMA in context of assuming the perfect SIC at receiver side. In order to clarif
For more than two decades, the issue of simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) has gained more attention from researchers and remains an influential topic in robotics. Currently, various algorithms of the mobile robot SLAM have been investigated. However, the probability-based mobile robot SLAM algorithm is often used in the unknown environment. In this paper, the authors proposed two main algorithms of localization. First is the linear Kalman Filter (KF) SLAM, which consists of five phase
Mobile robot localization has attracted substantial consideration from the scientists during the last two decades. Mobile robot localization is the basics of successful navigation in a mobile network. Localization plays a key role to attain a high accuracy in mobile robot localization and robustness in vehicular localization. For this purpose, a mobile robot localization technique is evaluated to accomplish a high accuracy. This paper provides the performance evaluation of three localization tec
Infrared small-target detection has important applications in many fields due to its high penetration capability and detection distance. This study introduces a detector called “YOLO-SDLUWD” which is based on the YOLOv7 network, for small target detection in complex infrared backgrounds. The “SDLUWD” refers to the combination of the spatial depth layer followed convolutional layer structure (SD-Conv) and a linear up-sampling fusion path aggregation feature pyramid network (LU-PAFPN) and a traini
Including mobile environment, conventional security mechanisms have been adapted to satisfy the needs of users. However, the device environment-IoT-based number of connected devices is quite different to the previous traditional desktop PC- or mobile-based environment. Based on the IoT, different kinds of smart and mobile devices are fully connected automatically via device controller, such as smartphone. Therefore, controller must be secure compared to conventional security mechanism. According
This paper presents a trainable Generative Adversarial Network (GAN)-based end-to-end system for image dehazing, which is named the DehazeGAN. DehazeGAN can be used for edge computing-based applications, such as roadside monitoring. It adopts two networks: one is generator (G), and the other is discriminator (D). The G adopts the U-Net architecture, whose layers are particularly designed to incorporate the atmospheric scattering model of image dehazing. By using a reformulated atmospheric scatte
Accurately annotating multiple 3D objects in LiDAR scenes is laborious and challenging. While a few previous studies have attempted to leverage semi-automatic methods for cost-effective bounding box annotation, such methods have limitations in efficiently handling numerous multi-class objects. To effectively accelerate 3D annotation pipelines, we propose iDet3D, an efficient interactive 3D object detector. Supporting a user-friendly 2D interface, which can ease the cognitive burden of exploring
Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) can support various high-reliability and low-delay applications in Maritime Networks (MNs). However, security risks in computing task offloading exist. In this study, the location privacy leakage risk of Maritime Mobile Terminals (MMTs) is quantified during task offloading and relevant Location Privacy Protection (LPP) schemes of MMT are considered under two kinds of task offloading scenarios. In single-MMT and single-time offloading scenario, a dynamic cache and spat
This paper proposes a dual-active-bridge (DAB) converter-based bidirectional DC/DC converter with reduced link capacitance. The structure of the proposed converter is based on the DAB converter, and two half-bridge converter-based active filters are fully integrated into the primary side. As the DAB converter has multi-degree-of-freedom, active filtering operation and DC/DC converter operation can be simultaneously achieved. As a result, the volume of the link capacitor and the number of switche
The increasing popularity of cloud computing has led to a significant rise in the use of container technology. Docker and Kubernetes have emerged as the de facto standards for container orchestration frameworks due to their reliability, flexibility, and ease of operation, supported by scalable, HTTP-based interfaces. Given the critical nature of infrastructure systems, container components within such orchestration frameworks should adhere to strict security levels. However, administrative misco
Nowaday, financial institutions provide secure mobile keyboard solutions to keep their mobile banking services safe. However, these are still vulnerable to attacks, such as shoulder surfing attack. Especially, in the case of handicapped person such as visual impairment and blindness, they are more vulnerable than ordinary person because of inconvenience of secure information input. Among them, we focused on the color blind. For the color blind, 4-color based secure keyboard method causes more in
In recent years, both of financial technologies and its services for mobile devices have been increased sharply. However, according to the case studies of mobile security, security threats have been increased too. Thus, for sustaining their services safe, security department of companies or bank institutes continuously research and develop to upgrade their service solutions. However, recent researches of security threats reported that various new types of social engineering attack were frequentl
Summary Secure mechanisms have been adapted to satisfy the needs of mobile subscribers; however, the mobile environment is quite different from a desktop PC or laptop‐based environment. The existing attack patterns in mobile environments are also quite different, and the countermeasures applied should be enhanced. In regards to usability, the mobile environment is based on mobility, and thus, mobile devices are designed and developed to enhance the owner's efficiency. To avoid forgetting passwor
This paper is concerned with the design of Coupled Inductors (CIs) in interleaved inverter considering the saturation of core. The magnetic flux of the CIs has two types, the one is the flux generated by mutual inductance, the other is that by leakage inductance. The most flux through the core of inductor is the flux generated by mutual inductance. However, if the inverter has the high capacity, the flux by leakage inductance also increases that causes to saturate the core. To prevent the satura
