이 교수의 연구실은 한국의 보건 정책, 정신건강 및 사회적 불평등 문제에 초점을 맞춘 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 특히 국민건강보험과 의료급여 제도의 영향, 정신건강 위기 요인(자살 생각 및 자살 시도), 가구 소득 변화와 정신건강의 상관관계, 그리고 사회적 취약군(북한 이북민, 저소득 가구 등)의 건강 불평등을 중심으로 다각도의 정책적 통찰을 도출하고자 합니다. 특히 한국의 전통적 성 역할과 경제적 부담이 정신건강에 미치는 영향에 대한 분석도 강점입니다.

Our research provides evidence that the shift in medical coverage from NHI to MA Type I increased the number of outpatient visits without increasing the out-of-pocket spending. Considering the problem of excess medical utilization by Korean MA Type I beneficiaries, further researches are required to have in-depth discussions on the appropriateness of the current cost-sharing level on MA beneficiaries.
Suicide is becoming a public health issue in many countries, and even more so in Korea. Korea has the highest suicide rate in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development countries. To address these issues, we investigated the recent trends in suicidal ideation and suicide attempts among the adult population. These results may be explained by the tendency for fathers to experience greater economic burdens than mothers in patriarchal Korean society.
A drastic reduction in household income was associated with a higher probability of suicidal ideation, with specific differences according to gender, age, previous household income level, and marital status. This study reinforces the need for social and welfare support in suicide prevention policies and programs.
We found that the highest quartile ADI was associated with greater concerns related to COVID-19. By identifying vulnerable population to concerns related to COVID-19, health systems may consider preventive intervention to mitigate mental health issues.
