We demonstrate an atomic layer deposition of TiO2 thin films on self-assembled monolayers of ω-functionalized alkanethiolates. The TiO2 thin films were grown on OH-terminated alkanethiolate monolayer-coated gold by atomic layer deposition at 100 °C. The atomic layer deposition of the TiO2 thin films is self-controlled and extremely linear relative to the number of cycles. Selective deposition of the TiO2 thin film using atomic layer deposition was accomplished with patterned self-assembled monol
Vatdiospyroidol (1), a novel cytotoxic resveratrol tetramer, was isolated from the stems of Vatica diospyroides Sym. (Dipterocarpaceae) by bioassay-guided fractionation monitored with a human oral epidermoid carcinoma (KB) cell line. Another novel resveratrol tetramer, vaticaphenol A (2), was obtained as a noncytotoxic constituent, along with the known compounds, bergenin, betulin, betulinic acid, mangiferonic acid, and (E)-resveratrol 3-O-β-d-glucopyranoside. The structures of compounds 1 and 2
Vincristine (VCR) is a widely used chemotherapy drug that induced peripheral painful neuropathy. Yet, it still lacks an ideal therapeutic strategy. The transient receptor potential (TRP) channels, purinergic receptor (P2Y), and mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) signaling play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of neuropathic pain. Withametelin (WMT), a potential Phytosteroid isolated from <i>datura innoxa</i>, exhibits remarkable neuroprotective properties. The present investigation was de
Six new xanthones, cratoxyarborenones A−F (1−6), were isolated from the leaves, twigs, and/or stem bark of Cratoxylum sumatranum along with the known compound, vismione B (9), as active constituents by bioassay-directed fractionation using the KB human cancer cell line cytotoxicity assay. In addition, two novel anthraquinobenzophenones, cratoxyarborequinones A (7) and B (8), and two known compounds, 2,4,6-trihydroxybenzophenone 4-O-geranyl ether and δ-tocotrienol, were obtained as inactive const
<i>Zingiber cassumunar</i> Roxb. (Zingiberaceae), is an important medicinal plant known as "Plai (Phlai)" in Thailand, "Bangle" in Indonesia, and "Bulei" in China. Traditionally, this plant has been used to treat inflammation, pain, and respiratory problems. The rhizomes are the primary part of the plant that has been used for medicinal purposes due to their constituents with therapeutic properties, including phenylbutenoids, curcuminoids, and essential oils. Since the 1970s, many studies have b
The present study aims to determine the neuroprotective effect of Bergenin against spatial memory deficit associated with neurodegeneration. Preliminarily, the protective effect of Bergenin was observed against H2O2-induced oxidative stress in HT-22 and PC-12 cells. Further studies were performed in 5xFAD Tg mouse model by administering Bergenin (1, 30 and 60 mg/kg; orally), whereas Bergenin (60 mg/kg) significantly attenuated the memory deficit observed in the Y-maze and M
7β-(3-Ethyl-<i>cis</i>-crotonoyloxy)-1α-(2-methylbutyryloxy)-3,14-dehydro-<i>Z</i>-notonipetranone (ECN), a sesquiterpenoid obtained from a natural source has proved to be effective in minimizing various side effects associated with opioids and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The current study focused on investigating the effects of ECN on neuropathic pain induced by partial sciatic nerve ligation (PSNL) by mainly focusing on oxidative stress, inflammatory and apoptotic proteins expression
