Fumihiko Sato 교수의 연구실은 식물 2차 대사물질, 특히 알칼로이드의 생합성 경로와 관련된 핵심 효소, 특히 사이토퍼틴 P450 효소의 기능과 분자 기전을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 베르베린, 스코폴라민, 니코틴과 같은 약리적으로 활성화된 알칼로이드의 대량 생산을 위한 대사공 ing 및 유전자 조작 기술 개발에도 주력하고 있습니다. 특히, 알칼로이드 생합성에서 특수한 산화 반응을 촉매하는 P450 효소의 기질 특이성과 반응 메커니즘 규명에 초점을 맞추고 있습니다.

Two cytochrome P450 (P450) cDNAs involved in the biosynthesis of berberine, an antimicrobial benzylisoquinoline alkaloid, were isolated from cultured Coptis japonica cells and characterized. A sequence analysis showed that one C. japonica P450 (designated CYP719) belonged to a novel P450 family. Our results suggest that moderate weight reduction in obese subjects decreased IHL and augmented splanchnic glucose uptake. This mechanism is at least in part involved in improvement of glucose metabolism by moderate weight reduction in obese subjects.
