HBsAg seroclearance achieved after NUC treatment was associated with favourable clinical outcomes and was durable in most cases during long-term follow-up.
Untreated IT-phase patients with CHB had higher risks of HCC and death/transplantation than treated IA-phase patients. Unnecessary deaths could be prevented through earlier antiviral intervention in select IT-phase patients.
The existing term non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has raised substantial concerns due to its inherent disadvantages of using exclusionary diagnostic criteria and the stigmatizing word 'fatty.' Three pan-national liver associations set out to explore a new nomenclature to replace both NAFLD and its suggested alternative, metabolic (dysfunction)-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). They surveyed if a change in nomenclature and/or definition is favored and which nomenclature best commu
HCC risk was highest with moderate serum HBV DNA levels of 6-7 log10 IU/mL in CHB patients without significant ALT elevation. Extending treatment indication to CHB patients with moderate levels of HBV DNA may be considered to further prevent HCC, regardless of ALT levels.
This nationwide study found that NAFLD is associated with an increased risk of dementia. The association was prominent among females and non-obese NAFLD subjects.
Abstract Background & Aims The aim of this study was to re‐evaluate the diagnostic performance of alpha‐foetoprotein ( AFP ) as a surveillance test for hepatocellular carcinoma ( HCC ) in patients with hepatitis B virus‐related chronic liver disease who were treated with entecavir ( ETV ). Methods Between January 2007 and August 2012, we analysed 373 treatment‐naïve patients with HBV ‐related chronic hepatitis ( n = 229) or cirrhosis ( n = 144) who were candidates for surveillance test, and
MASLD, MetALD, and ALD have an increased risk of PLCa, HCC, incident cirrhosis, and decompensated cirrhosis but not iCCA. These findings may serve as a robust ground for the prognostic value of the newly suggested MASLD and MetALD.
This study showed that MASLD and MetALD are associated with an increased risk of cancer, particularly liver and gastrointestinal cancers. The findings build new evidence for the clinical outcomes of MetALD while highlighting the importance of managing alcohol intake properly in MASLD and MetALD.

HBV viral load is significantly correlated with APRI and FIB-4 scores, and is also associated with HCC risk independent of those scores in CHB patients. These findings suggest that HBV DNA level is associated with hepatocarcinogenesis through both direct and indirect pathways.
Little is known about the benefits of statin use on liver cancer mortality among patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) considering hypercholesterolemia and obesity. A nationwide retrospective cohort study was conducted using data from a Health Examination Cohort of the National Health Insurance Service of Korea. Data on CHB patients with no other concurrent liver disease were acquired, and statin use was defined as a cumulative daily dose ≥28. A 3-year landmark analysis was performed to avoid
A novel HCC risk prediction model for non-cirrhotic NAFLD patients was developed and validated with fair performance. The model is expected to serve as a simple and reliable tool to assess HCC risk and assist precision screening of HCC.
The findings suggest that QOL data can serve as a reliable predictive factor and assist prognostic calculation for HCC patients.
