Within the limitation of this study, it is concluded that a combination of physical and online classes in terms of blended learning courses will be the future trend for dental education.
The purpose of this study was to compare the influence of three kinds of storage methods on surface roughness of tissue conditioners. Four commercial tissue conditioners (GC Soft Liner, Softone, Fictioner, and Hydro-Cast) were used in this study. Five samples of each material were stored in distilled water, air, and a denture cleanser (Polident). Mean surface roughness (R(a)) values of dental stone casts made from the tissue conditioners were measured after 0, 1, 3, 7, and 14 days of immersion u
Zirconia-based bioceramic is a potential material for dental implants developed and introduced in dentistry 30 years ago. However, some limitations still exist for zirconia implants caused by several factors, such as manufacturing difficulties, low-temperature degradation (LTD), long-term stability, and clinical experience. Several studies validated that some subtle changes on the zirconia surface might significantly impact its mechanical properties and osseointegration. Thus, attention was paid
The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of plasticizer content on the tensile bond strength of heat-cured acrylic soft denture liners to a denture base resin. Differences among materials were significant, except for 100wt% Dibutyl Sebacate (DBS) and 80wt% DBS of tensile bond strength. The bond strength of all materials to the denture base increased with an increase in thermal cycles significantly except for 40wt% DBS. The tensile bond strength of soft denture liners to the dentu
These results suggest that the dynamic viscoelasticity of commercial tissue conditioners is affected by plasticizer leaching. However, these effects are limited.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of PMMA polymer on dynamic viscoelasticity and plasticizer leachability of PEMA-based tissue conditioners. One PEMA polymer and one PMMA polymer were used in powder form with four formulations. The combination of 80 wt% ATBC, 15 wt% BPBG and 5 wt% ethyl alcohol was used as the liquid phase. The dynamic viscoelasticity and plasticizer leaching of each specimen were measured after 0, 1, 3, 7, and 14 days of immersion (37 degrees C distilled wat
All resilient denture liners tested had a sufficiently strong bond to the denture base resin. Within the limitations of this study, the results show that all of the materials were acceptable for clinical use, having met the accepted adequate bond strength for resilient denture liners of 0.45 MPa.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the use of different plasticizers in soft acrylic resin materials to reduce leaching of the plasticizer and thus increase the durability of tissue conditioners. Samples were prepared containing different combinations of three types of polymer/copolymer powder and four types of plasticizer liquid (DEHM, DIBA, DAA and DINA). The dynamic viscoelasticity of each sample was measured after water immersion using a dynamic mechanical analyzer. Water absorptio
The aim of this study was to investigate the dynamic viscoelasticity of dental soft polymer material containing citrate ester-based plasticizers. Three kinds of citrate ester-based plasticizer (Citroflex® C-2: TEC, Citroflex® A-2: ATEC, and Citroflex® A-4: ATBC), with the combination of 5 wt% ethyl alcohol, were used as the liquid phase. The dynamic viscoelastic properties of nine ethyl methacrylate polymers: (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, and I) were immersed in 37 °C
During the current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, dental education and training requiring face-to-face interaction must prioritize infection prevention and the safety of students, staff, and patients. In July 2020, the Association for Dental Education, Asia Pacific (ADEAP) published safety guidelines for safe dental education during the COVID-19 pandemic. These guidelines summarize ADEAP recommendations for classroom-based courses, reopening of simulated training courses and denta
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are a promising bioactive scaffold for bone regeneration because of their superior mechanical and biological properties. Vascularization is crucial in bone tissue engineering, and insufficient vascularization is a long-standing problem in tissue-engineered scaffolds. However, the effect of CNTs on vascularization is still minimal. In the current study, pristine single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) were purified to prepare different ratios of SWNTs/EDC composites, and th
