Abstract Activity‐based approaches for designing AIEgens possess prominent advantages including high selectivity, sensitivity, and signal‐to‐noise ratio, and they have received more attention in recent years. Excellent activatable AIE probes have been reported for detecting toxic substances, imaging intracellular active molecules/biomolecules, as well as monitoring the activity of overexpressed enzymes in cancers. Moreover, the majority of activatable theranostic AIEgens can be specifically trig
Monitoring fluctuations in enzyme overexpression facilitates early tumor detection and excision. An AIEgen probe (DQM-ALP) for the imaging of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity was synthesized. The probe consists of a quinoline-malononitrile (QM) core decorated with hydrophilic phosphate groups as ALP-recognition units. The rapid liberation of DQM-OH aggregates in the presence of ALP resulted in aggregation-induced fluorescence. The up-regulation of ALP expression in tumor cells was imaged usin
B cell activation requires sustained elevation of cytoplasmic free calcium, achieved by influx through store-operated calcium (SOC) channels. The molecular identity of these channels is not known. Ectopic expression of the raft-associated tetraspan protein CD20 in Chinese hamster ovary cells introduced a novel SOC entry pathway that was permeable to strontium as well as to calcium. The activity of this SOC pathway was abolished by deletion of a cytoplasmic sequence in CD20 essential for its effi
The concept of molecular design, integrating diagnostic and therapeutic functions, aligns with the general trend of modern medical advancement. Herein, we rationally designed the smart molecule ER-ZS for endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-targeted diagnosis and treatment in cell and animal models by combining hemicyanine dyes with ER-targeted functional groups (p-toluenesulfonamide). Owing to its ability to target the ER with a highly specific response to viscosity, ER-ZS demonstrated substantial fluore
CD13/aminopeptidase N (APN), which is a zinc-dependent metalloproteinase, plays a vital role in the growth, migration, angiogenesis, and metastasis of tumours. Thus, in situ molecular imaging of endogenous APN levels is considerably significant for investigating APN and its different functions. In this study, a novel two-photon near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence probe DCM-APN was prepared to perform in vitro and in vivo tracking of APN. The N-terminal alanyl site
The addition of promoter species to 10Ni/SBA-15 catalysts is of significant importance for the CO methanation reaction.
When SO2 is inhaled through the respiratory tract into the body, it can be easily hydrated to sulfite (SO32–) and bisulfate (HSO3–) ions. They are widely used as essential preservatives for foods, beverages, and pharmaceutical products. Exposure to high doses of bisulfate induces a large number of respiratory diseases relevant to lung cancer, cardiovascular diseases, and many neurological disorders, as they involve in various physiology and pathological processes in mitochondria cell apparatus.
In recent years, the use of aggregation-induced emission luminogens (AIEgens) for biological imaging and phototherapy has become an area of intense research. However, most traditional AIEgens suffer from undesired aggregation in aqueous media with "always on" fluorescence, or their targeting effects cannot be maintained accurately in live cells with the microenvironment changes. These drawbacks seriously impede their application in the fields of bio-imaging and antitumor therapy, which require a
CD20 is a B cell-specific membrane protein that functions in store-operated calcium entry and serves as a useful target for antibody-mediated therapeutic depletion of B cells. Antibody binding to CD20 induces a diversity of biological effects, some of which are dependent on lipid rafts. Rafts are isolated as low density detergent-resistant membranes, initially characterized using Triton X-100. We have previously reported that CD20 is soluble in 1% Triton but that antibodies induce the associatio
Abstract Near‐infrared (NIR) activatable fluorescent probes have been considered to be the effective edge tools for the investigation of cell biology and disease diagnosis because of their outstanding advantages. Related genes involved in tumor genesis and progression regulate the overexpression of certain enzymes. Owing to the distinctive characteristics of quick reaction time and favorable pharmacokinetics, enzyme‐reactive NIR optical probes have shown great potential in the diagnosis of tumor
