The AC loss occurred in REBa2Cu3Oy (REBCO, RE = rare earth elements, Y, Eu, Gd) superconductor is serious problem in AC applications because it may cause a severe temperature rise of superconducting systems. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the AC loss property of REBCO superconducting tape in detail and to reduce that. As AC application such as motor, the tape is mostly stacked into multi-layer. Thus, understanding the relation between the number of the stacked tapes and the AC loss is

Abstract In this study, we focused on the dependence of the AC loss in REBa 2 Cu 3 O y (REBCO, RE = rare earth, Y, Eu, Gd) superconducting tapes stacked perpendicular to the tape face on the interval between the superconducting layers. The AC loss of the 2-layer stacked tapes with various interval in perpendicular field was investigated by pickup-coil method. The AC loss for external applied magnetic field, B m , below the penetration field, B p , increases with increasing the interval. In the c
For AC applications of high-temperature superconductors, such as REBa2Cu3Oy (REBCO, RE = rare earth) superconducting tapes, an AC loss is a great part of total heat load of cooling systems. In the case of conduction cooling, it may cause a serious temperature rise of the superconducting systems. Therefore, it is very important to reduce the AC loss in superconducting windings and grasp its properties under various conditions. For AC loss reduction, REBCO tapes should be scribed into a multifilam
Abstract The estimation of AC loss in REBa 2 Cu 3 O y (REBCO; RE = rare earth, such as Y, Eu, and Gd) superconducting tapes within superconducting synchronous motors and generators for electric aircraft is imperative during the design stage phase to optimize efficiency and cooling considerations. Our previous studies clarified the AC loss characteristics, focusing on estimating the AC loss in armature windings. While the magnetic field applied to the armature windings is exclusively as an AC fie
Accurate estimation of AC losses is crucial for designing superconducting motors with high output power, lightweight, and safety, particularly for aircraft applications.
