히로유키 오베 교수의 연구실은 중환자 치료 및 만성적 중증질환의 임상적·경제적 부담에 초점을 맞추고 있으며, 특히 만성 중증질환(PerCI/CCI)과 고위험 환자들의 장기적 예후, 중환자 치료 시스템의 유연성과 병상 가용성에 대한 연구를 중심으로 진행되고 있습니다. 일본 전국의 입원자 데이터를 기반으로 한 대규모 연구를 통해 중환자실의 병상 활용도, 환자의 기능적 회복 수준, 그리고 심폐소생술 후 생존율 변화 등 실질적인 의료 정책에 기여할 수 있는 연구를 지속하고 있습니다. 특히 코로나19 패닉 기간 동안 중환자실과 고위험 간병실(HDU)의 역할을 분석하며, 환자 이송 및 치료 전략의 최적화를 모색하고 있습니다.

Only one-fourth of ICU beds were occupied by mechanically ventilated patients, suggesting that the critical care system in Japan has substantial surge capacity under normal temporal variation to care for critically ill patients.
Using a nationwide inpatient database in Japan, we found substantial clinical and economic burdens of chronic critical illness in Japan. Chronic critical illness was particularly common in elderly people. Although inhospital mortality of chronic critical illness patients continues to decrease, costs and patients with dependence for activities of daily living or decreased consciousness at discharge are increasing.
This scoping review synthesized many studies on PerCI/CCI, highlighting the serious impact of PerCI/CCI on patients' long-term outcomes. The results obtained underscore the need for consistent terminology with high-quality research for PerCI/CCI. The results obtained provide important information to be used in discussions with patients and families regarding prognosis and care options.

We found substantial associations between mortality and loss of health and IHCA in Japan. The incidence of IHCA showed a decreasing trend over time, the percentage of treated cardiac arrest patients also had a decreasing trend, and the overall survival to discharge rate improved over time.
It is unclear when to begin rehabilitation after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in the intensive care unit (ICU).
