호정 강 교수의 연구실은 토양 생태계에서의 유기물 순환과 온실가스 순환을 중심으로, 식물 대사산물, 특히 페놀성 화합물의 분해 동역학과 토양 효소 활성, 미생물군집의 역할을 연구합니다. 특히 습지에서의 탄소 저장 및 탄소 방출 메커니즘, 기후 변화 요인(온도 상승, 산성도 변화 등)이 토양 탄소 순환에 미치는 영향을 다룹니다. 또한 산림과 습지 토양의 메탄 산화 및 생태계 서비스 평가를 통해 기후 변화 대응 전략을 모색하고 있습니다.

Phenolics are the most abundant plant metabolites and are believed to decompose slowly in soils compared to other soil organic matter (SOM).
