홍성섭 교수의 연구실은 노화와 관련된 구강 및 두부경부계 기능 저하, 특히 노인성 약병(geriatric syndrome)의 관점에서 구강건조증, 임플란트 및 치료 관련 기능 장애를 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 주로 노화에 따른 구강건조증의 원인과 영향, 구강건강 관련 삶의 질(OHRQoL) 향상을 위한 평가 및 진단 기법 개발에 초점을 맞추고 있으며, 자연어 처리(NLP)를 활용한 질환 구분 기술 개발도 함께 진행하고 있습니다.

Xerostomia is becoming a major issue in dental and medical clinics with an increase of aged population. Medication is the most common etiology of xerostomia, while the most severe xerostomia generally occurs in patients with a history of head and neck radiotherapy.
