<b>Background:</b> It is widely known that the harmful effects of fine dust can cause various diseases. Research on the correlation between fine dust and health has been mainly focused on lung and cardiovascular diseases. By contrast, the effects of air pollution on the central nervous system (CNS) are not broadly recognized. <b>Findings:</b> Air pollution can cause diverse neurological disorders as the result of inflammation of the nervous system, oxidative stress, activation of microglial cell
With the advances in medicine, the incidence of Fontan physiology-related complications is likely to increase, and the incidence of HCC will also increase accordingly. As early diagnosis of HCC results in better patient outcomes, a surveillance guideline for HCC after the FP should be developed.
The results of this study suggest that, regardless of probing depth, probing surface, and the presence of intrabony defects, there is a minimal difference between the BP and SBL. Determining the bone probing depth measurement is a kind of reliable method to estimate the regenerated bone level following periodontal treatment.
Thiopurine S-methyltransferase (TPMT) is a cytoplasmic enzyme involved in the metabolism of thiopurine drugs and its activity is largely influenced by polymorphisms of the TPMT gene. To date, more than 35 TPMT variants are known to be associated with reduced enzyme activity, but most studies on the TPMT genotype have included only common nonfunctional variants, such as TPMT*2 and TPMT*3. In this study, we carried out a complete sequencing analysis to screen all TPMT variants in Korean patients.
Double-layered composite films consisting of TiO2/Ag and TiO2/Au nanoparticles.
Current research in the area of surgical mesh implants is somewhat limited to traditional designs and synthesis of various mesh materials, whereas meshes with multiple functions may be an effective approach to address long-standing challenges including postoperative complications. Herein, a bioresorbable electronic surgical mesh is presented that offers high mechanical strength over extended timeframes, wireless post-operative pressure monitoring, and on-demand drug delivery for the restoration
Wound conditioning with safflower seed extracts may contribute to bone formation but appears to have unpredictable potential for stimulating periodontal regeneration including new cementum.
Lipoblastoma requires an accurate diagnosis and operative resection to alleviate the symptoms induced by its growth. Incompletely resected tumor may regrow; therefore, complete excision is the treatment of choice. Continuous follow-up is needed to monitor for recurrence of disease, even after a complete excision.
