Users of social media often share their feelings or emotional states through their posts. In this study, we developed a deep learning model to identify a user's mental state based on his/her posting information. To this end, we collected posts from mental health communities in Reddit. By analyzing and learning posting information written by users, our proposed model could accurately identify whether a user's post belongs to a specific mental disorder, including depression, anxiety, bipolar, bord
The results of this study highlight continuous growth in this research area. Moreover, we retrieved three main discussion points from a comprehensive overview of highly cited publications that provide new in-depth directions for both researchers and practitioners.
Although the meaningful relationship between organizational culture and employee performance is a widely-researched topic, there is scant research available how organizational culture impacts on employees' perceived stress in the workplace, affecting their performance. This might cause a difficulty to guide practitioners as to what organizational elements can be applied to reduce employee perceived stress. To add the level of robustness and fill the gap in the literature, the present research ex
This paper considers Indra Sinha's Animal's People (2007), a fictional re-telling of the Union Carbide Bhopal disaster, as a productive site of mutual engagement between postcolonial studies and disability studies, two fields rarely in dialogue. Dominant models of disability, I argue, do not translate to formerly colonial sites and/or sites that bear the burden of global capitalism. The uneven processes of globalization—which produce disabling environments—necessitate that we revise established
Piezoelectricity is an ability of some materials to generate an electric potential in response to applied mechanical stress. Piezoelectric ceramics are often used for sensory systems to monitor mechanical characteristics of structures through an electrical signal. Thus, to support system level analysis and evaluation of sensory systems, understanding and estimating the electrical behavior of piezoelectric ceramics with a minimum effort is valuable. This paper proposes an equivalent circuit model
We present BreathingFrame, a breath signal sharing device that supports pairwise remote communication through delivering the physical inflating movement of the other party's breathing on the surface of a digital photo frame. The results of our observational study with eight couples showed that participants could associate the other party on the frame, feel sentimental connectedness and the breathing movement from the other party, and stimulate their curiosity in a positive way. We also found tha
Currently, much of the focus in the structural health monitoring community is shifting towards incorporating health monitoring technology into real world structures. Deployment of structural health monitoring systems for permanent damage detection is usually limited by the availability of sensor technology. Previously, we developed the first fully self-contained system that performs impedance-based structural health monitoring. This digital signal processor based system effectively replaces a tr
The global information and communication technologies (ICT) industry considers the Internet of Things (IoT) to be a promising and innovative area for development. The IoT concept encompasses both traditional products and services as well as new services. However, there is always user resistance whenever new products or innovative services are introduced in the market, and only a few studies have considered the concept of user resistance in understanding users' perspectives toward IoT environment
This injectable hydrogel system can promote meniscal repair and be readily utilized in clinical application.
Structural health monitoring is desirable in many fields to provide a means of damage detection on a variety of structures. Unfortunately, the ability to equip structures with health monitoring systems is limited by the development of adequate hardware. Previously, prototypes using the impedance-based health monitoring method have been developed to lay a foundation for permanent structural damage detection. These prototypes served their purposes, but has shortcomings such that large size and hig
To address the demands for the sensitive and real-time detection of formaldehyde gas at ambient temperature, a surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensing system based on modified dandelion-like SiO₂ nanoparticles/Au thin film is developed. The sensing system relies on modified SiO₂ nanoparticles having radially arranged mesopores on the Au thin film, providing well-distributed and specific binding sites for formaldehyde and amplifying the sensing SPR signal. The linear range for the quantification
