Changes in sibling intimacy and conflict were charted from middle childhood through adolescence, and family structure and relationship correlates of change were examined. Participants were mothers, fathers, and firstborn (M=11.82 years at Time 1) and secondborn (M=9.22 years) siblings from 200 White, working/middle class, 2-parent families. Sibling intimacy was highest for sisters, stable over time for same-sex dyads, and showed a U-shaped change pattern in mixed-sex dyads. Sibling conflict decl
In the intrinsic pathway of apoptosis, cell-damaging signals promote the release of cytochrome c from mitochondria, triggering activation of the Apaf-1 and caspase-9 apoptosome. The ubiquitin E3 ligase MDM2 decreases the stability of the proapoptotic factor p53. We show that it also coordinated apoptotic events in a p53-independent manner by ubiquitylating the apoptosome activator CAS and the ubiquitin E3 ligase HUWE1. HUWE1 ubiquitylates the antiapoptotic factor Mcl-1, and we found that HUWE1 a
Association between TP53 mutation and expression indicates a potential prognostic marker of TNBC; hence both DNA sequencing and mRNA expression analysis may be required to predict the prognosis of TNBC patients.
Lung cancer tissues and cell lines express OGFR. Morphine interacts with OGFR and may suppress lung cancer progression.
We investigated gene expression profiles of the NF-κB pathway in patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) receiving adjuvant chemotherapy to determine the prognostic value of NF-κB pathway genes according to chemotherapeutic regimen. We used the nCounter expression assay to measure expression of 11 genes (NFKB1, NFKB2, RELA, RELB, REL, TP53, FOXC1, TBP, SP1, STAT3 and IRF1 genes) belonging to the NF-κB pathway using mRNA extracted from paraffin-embedded tumor tissues from 203 patients
In this study, we provide genetic characterization and potential therapeutic target for this rare, potentially lethal disease. Further large-scale comprehensive genetic study and functional validation are warranted.
The expression profile of ERBB4, a member of the HER family, might serve as a prognostic marker in patients with TNBC.
Several prognosis prediction models have been developed for breast cancer (BC) patients with curative surgery, but there is still an unmet need to precisely determine BC prognosis for individual BC patients in real time. This is a retrospectively collected data analysis from adjuvant BC registry at Samsung Medical Center between January 2000 and December 2016. The initial data set contained 325 clinical data elements: baseline characteristics with demographics, clinical and pathologic informatio
Leukoencephalopathy is a common phenomenon that occurs following intrathecal MTX therapy; however, DNL occurs at a very low incidence. For newly developed enhancing lesions, consideration for the occurrence of DNL should be taken to avoid unnecessary invasive procedures or therapies.
We have used a surface plasmon resonance biosensor (SPR, BIACORE 2000) to detect antibodies against glucose 6-phosphate isomerase (GPI) in synovial fluids of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA). Recombinant human GPI proteins fused with or without NusA were expressed in E. coli, purified to homogeneity and immobilized in flow cells of CM5 sensor chips. The flow cells immobilized with NusA protein or bovine serum albumin were used to monitor non-specific binding. Synovial fluid samp
Breast cancer (BC) has been genetically profiled through large-scale genome analyses. However, the role and clinical implications of genetic alterations in metastatic BC (MBC) have not been evaluated. Therefore, we conducted whole-exome sequencing (WES) and RNA-Seq of 37 MBC samples and targeted deep sequencing of another 29 MBCs. We evaluated somatic mutations from WES and targeted sequencing and assessed gene expression and performed pathway analysis from RNA-Seq. In this analysis, PIK3CA was
Overall, we found each TP53 mutation to indicate different prognoses in patients with metastatic tumors undergoing chemotherapy and ICI treatment. Further validations, including a prospective cohort study or a functional study, would be particularly valuable in advancing the knowledge on this aspect and developing improved prognostic parameters.
