Four bis(indole) alkaloids of the topsentin class, including two new brominated compounds (1 and 2), have been isolated from the sponge Spongosorites genitrix collected from Jaeju Island, Korea. The structures of the novel compounds were determined by spectroscopic methods. These compounds exhibited moderate cytotoxicity against a human leukemia cell-line (K-562).

A new cyclic tetrapeptide (1) was isolated from the culture broth of an actinomycete of the genus Nocardiopsis collected from the Pacific deep-sea sediment. The structure of this compound was determined to be cyclo-(L-isoleucyl-L-prolyl-L-leucyl-L-prolyl) on the basis of combined chemical and spectral methods.
Terrelumamides A (1) and B (2), two new lumazine-containing peptides, were isolated from the culture broth of the marine-derived fungus Aspergillus terreus. From the results of combined spectroscopic and chemical analyses, the structures of these compounds were determined to be linear assemblies of 1-methyllumazine-6-carboxylic acid, an amino acid residue and anthranilic acid methyl ester connected by peptide bonds. These new compounds exhibited pharmacological activity by improving insulin sens
