Recent ideas concerning site-selective functionalization of chromium terephtha-late MIL-101 are discussed, focusing on the utilization of unsaturated Cr(III) sites (see image). Recent advances in synthesis, selective surface functionalization, outstanding sorption properties, encapsulation of nanoobjects, and catalytic applications in MIL-101 are also discussed.
Hierarchically porous metal–organic frameworks with mesoporous cages are demonstrated to behave as promising water adsorbents in energy-efficient dehumidification. Their low temperature desorption properties for water with huge sorption uptakes are essential for various water sorption applications including desiccant dehumidification and fresh water production. Detailed facts of importance to specialist readers are published as ”Supporting Information”. Such documents are peer-reviewed, but not
A new hydrothermally stable Al polycarboxylate metal-organic framework (MOF) based on a heteroatom bio-derived aromatic spacer is designed through a template-free green synthesis process. It appears that in some test conditions this MOF outperforms the heat reallocation performances of commercial SAPO-34.
A series of zirconium-based MOFs with different ligand functionalities and porosities were applied for catalytic transfer hydrogenation of ethyl levulinate to form γ-valerolactone, using isopropanol as a hydrogen donor.
Copper/silica nanocomposite catalysts prove efficient for the direct hydrocyclization of biomass-derived levulinic acid to cyclic 2-methyltetrahydrofuran in the vapor phase, at moderate hydrogen pressures. A nickel-promoted copper/silica catalyst with a high copper loading (72 wt %) is particularly effective for the direct hydrocyclization (89 % selectivity). The catalysts are stable during long-term experiments, showing little sign of leaching or sintering. Detailed facts of importance to speci
AFI type molecular sieves with various morphologies such as aggregated sphere, plate, rod, prism and barrel were synthesized under varying reaction conditions under microwave irradiation. Hexagonal plate-like crystals with an aspect ratio of about 0.2 were obtained in the presence of silica under alkaline conditions. Rod-like crystals with an aspect ratio of about 40 were obtained with the addition of fluoride and an increase of template and water concentrations. The addition of silica to an alk
We present facile route for the shaping of MOFs (MIL-100(Fe), MIL-101(Cr), UiO-66(Zr), and UiO-66(Zr)_NH2) using mesoporous ρ-alumina (MRA) as a binder.
