Text-based passwords are a fundamental and popular means of authentication. Password authentication can be simply implemented because it does not require any equipment, unlike biometric authentication, and it relies only on the users' memory. This reliance on memory is a weakness of passwords, and people therefore usually use easy-to-remember passwords, such as "iloveyou1234". However, these sample passwords are not difficult to crack. The default passwords of IoT also are text-based passwords a
Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being utilized in cybersecurity, particularly for detecting malicious applications. However, the black-box nature of AI models presents a significant challenge. This lack of transparency makes it difficult to understand and trust the results. In order to address this, it is necessary to incorporate explainability into the detection model. There is insufficient research to provide reasons why applications are detected as malicious or explain their beha
The evaluation of skin surface contours can be carried out by various techniques, including the use of a stylus profilometer, a laserprofilometer and a conventional optical profilometer (COP). But these methods have some drawbacks because their data are basically obtained from two-dimensional algorithms. So a new technique has been developed based on a new concept: a stereo image processing technique which is considered in this paper. Since a pair of stereo images contains depth information, the
Despite their well-known weaknesses, passwords are still the de-facto authentication method for most online systems. Due to its importance, password cracking has been vibrantly researched both for offensive and defensive purposes. Hashcat and John the Ripper are the most popular cracking tools, allowing users to crack millions of passwords in a short time. However, their rule-based cracking has an explicit limitation of depending on password-cracking experts to come up with creative rules. To ov
In a previous Report by the author, experimental stress intensity factor range distributions derived from crack propagation rate measurements were presented for a pin-loaded lug. It was shown that crack growth rate at short crack lengths was much faster, by up to almost an order of magnitude, than predicted by available fracture mechanics solutions. It was proposed that this was due to the action of frictional forces between the pin and hole surface. These forces are normally ignored, it being a
