Cortical thinning patterns in Alzheimer's disease (AD) have been widely reported through conventional regional analysis. In addition, the coordinated variance of cortical thickness in different brain regions has been investigated both at the individual and group network levels. In this study, we aim to investigate network architectural characteristics of a structural covariance network (SCN) in AD, and further to show that the structural covariance connectivity becomes disorganized across the br
We present an algorithm for computing Minkowski sums among surfaces of revolution and surfaces of linear extrusion, generated by slope-monotone closed curves. The special structure of these simple surfaces allows the process of normal matching between two surfaces to be expressed as an explicit equation. Based on this insight, we also present an efficient algorithm for computing the distance between two simple surfaces, even though they may in general be non-convex. Using an experimental impleme
The objectives of this study were to compare the topographical subcortical shape and to investigate the effects of tau or amyloid burden on atrophic patterns in early onset Alzheimer's disease (EOAD) and late-onset Alzheimer's disease (LOAD). One hundred and sixty-one participants (53 EOAD, 44 LOAD, 33 young controls, and 31 older controls) underwent [18F]THK5351 positron emission tomography (PET), [18F]flutemetamol (FLUTE) PET, and 3T MRI scans. We used surface-based analysis to evaluate subcor
We present robust and efficient algorithms for computing Voronoi diagrams of planar freeform curves. Boundaries of the Voronoi diagram consist of portions of the bisector curves between pairs of planar curves. Our scheme is based on computing critical structures of the Voronoi diagrams, such as self-intersections and junction points of bisector curves. Since the geometric objects we consider in this paper are represented as freeform NURBS curves, we were able to reformulate the solution to the p
