The Seoul Neuropsychological Screening Battery (SNSB) is one of the standardized neuropsychological test batteries widely used in Korea. However, it may be a bit too lengthy for patients with decreased attention span; and it does not provide the score of global cognitive function (GCF), which is useful for monitoring patients longitudinally. We sought to validate a dementia version of SNSB (SNSB-D) that was shorter than the original SNSB and contained only scorable tests with a GCF score of 300.

This cluster analysis of cortical thickness of the entire brain showed that AD dementia in the earlier stages can be categorized into various anatomical subtypes, with distinct clinical features.
These results indicate that cerebral MB is one of the important factors that cause cognitive impairments in SVaD.
Our findings suggest the presence of hierarchy between svMCI and SVaD, and that the cognitive decline from svMCI to SVaD is associated with lesions in dorsolateral prefrontal and temporal cortices.
Our results illustrate that the new K-IADL cut-off score of 0.40 is reliable and valid for screening impairments of daily functioning resulting from various etiologies.
In conclusion, self-focused attention and depressive symptomatology appear to play important roles in the severity of SMI, even though it is not clear how these factors interact with objective memory performance. Clinical implications as well as limitations of the present study were discussed.
Inbrain CST had good validity, reliability, and clinical usefulness in detecting cognitive impairment in the elderly. Furthermore, it showed neuroanatomical validity through MRI cortical thinning patterns. These results suggest that Inbrain CST is a useful cognitive screening tool with efficiency and validity to detect mild impairments in cognition in clinical settings.
Amnestic mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is considered to be a prodromal stage of Alzheimer's disease. Likewise, subcortical vascular MCI (svMCI) is considered as a prodromal stage of subcortical vascular dementia (SVaD). The objective of this study was to investigate neuropsychiatric features in patients with svMCI compared to healthy controls and patients with SVaD. We evaluated 31 patients with svMCI, 42 with SVaD, and 28 healthy controls who underwent neuropsychiatric assessments using the N
Our findings suggested that cortical atrophy was an important factor of cognitive impairment in Aβ (-) SVCI regardless of WMH. Furthermore, our findings might give clinicians a better understanding of specific neural substrates of neuropsychological deficits in patients with SVCI.
Our study provides novel insights into the cognitive trajectories of CU individuals. Furthermore, the predictive model can facilitate the classification of CU individuals in future primary prevention trials.
Our study, using a new method of measuring the degree of closing-in, suggests that this phenomenon is not specific to AD.
Motor impersistence, an inability to sustain a certain position or movement, is a motor-intentional disorder, caused more often by right than left hemisphere lesions. Since the right hemisphere is dominant for mediating motor persistence, callosal lesions that disconnect the left hemisphere from the right may induce impersistence of the right upper and lower limbs. After an undiagnosed left callosal infarction, a 65-year-old right-handed man suddenly developed a transient loss of volitional move
This study revealed that a smartphone-based cognitive training application led to improvements in phonemic generative naming ability and activation of the prefrontal cortex in older adults without dementia. This study is meaningful because it confirmed that cognitive training is partially effective in enhancing frontal lobe function. It also provided information on the brain mechanisms related to the effects of cognitive training using fNIRS.
