This paper describes the fabrication of novel modified polyethylene (PE) membranes using plasma technology to create high-performance and cost-effective separator membranes for practical applications in lithium-ion polymer batteries. The modified PE membrane via plasma modification process plays a critical role in improving wettability and electrolyte retention, interfacial adhesion between separators and electrodes, and cycle performance of lithium-ion polymer batteries. This paper suggests tha
Abstract Polyester nanocomposites based on poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) and carbon nanotube (CNT) were prepared by simple melt blending using a twin‐screw extruder. There is significant dependence of the thermal, rheological, and mechanical properties of the PBT nanocomposites on the concentration and dispersion state of CNT. The storage and loss moduli of the PBT nanocomposites increased with increasing frequency, and this enhancing effect was more pronounced at lower frequency region. Th
Abstract Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), especially in two-dimensional (2D) form, exhibit many properties desirable for device applications. However, device performance can be hindered by the presence of defects. Here, we combine state of the art experimental and computational approaches to determine formation energies and charge transition levels of defects in bulk and 2D MX 2 (M = Mo or W; X = S, Se, or Te). We perform deep level transient spectroscopy (DLTS) measurements of bulk TMDs
Piezoelectric materials are widely used as electromechanical couples for a variety of sensors and actuators in nanoscale electronic devices. The majority of piezoelectric devices display lateral patterning of counter electrodes beside active materials such as two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (2D TMDs). As a result, their piezoelectric output response is strongly dependent on the lattice orientation of the 2D TMD crystal structure, limiting their piezoelectric properties. To overc
Organic solar cells (OSCs) are promising renewable energy sources for replacing fossil fuels. The power conversion efficiency (PCE) of OSCs has increased based on tremendous effort in material and device engineering. Still, the stability of OSC, such as long lifetime, negative temperature coefficient, must be enhanced for commercialization. In this study, we investigated OSC performance at a high operating temperature near 300-420 K, which are typical temperature regions in photovoltaic applicat
Abstract Poly(ethylene 2,6‐naphthalate) (PEN) nanocomposites reinforced with silica nanoparticles were prepared by direct melt compounding. Dynamic thermogravimetric analysis was conducted on the PEN/silica nanocomposites to clarify the effect of silica nanoparticle on the thermal decomposition behavior of the resultant nanocomposites. There is a significant dependence of thermal decomposition behavior for PEN/silica nanocomposites on the content of silica nanoparticles and heating rate. The var
Abstract Fabricating an electron extraction layer (EEL) with a metal doping transition metal oxide (TMO) in inorganic–organic hybrid perovskite solar cells (PeSCs) and organic solar cells (OSCs) is a simple and efficient process for enhancing photovoltaic properties. Here, the universal benefits and common factors that influence both PeSCs and OSCs as a result of changes in Al‐doped TiO 2 properties are investigated. These common factors are identified in two separate mechanisms. The first invol
Abstract Polymer nanocomposites based on poly (ethylene 2,6‐naphthalate) (PEN) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were prepared by direct melt blending with a twin‐screw extruder. Dynamic thermogravimetric analysis was conducted on the PEN/CNT nanocomposites to clarify the effect of CNTs on the thermal decomposition behavior of the polymer nanocomposites. The thermal decomposition kinetics of the PEN/CNT nanocomposites was strongly dependent on the CNT content, the heating rate, and the gas atmosphere.
In this study, we confirmed that elevated ESR was an independent and significant predictor of PHN in patients with acute HZ. To validate these results, further well-designed, randomized clinical trials are needed.
The device performance of polymer solar cells with zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles inserted as an electron injection layer between the poly(3-hexylthiopene) (P3HT):phenyl-C60-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) active layer and the Al electrode was studied. The polymer solar cell consists of molybdenum-oxide (MoO3) as a hole injection layer, P3HT:PCBM bulk heterojunction as an active layer, and ZnO NPs as an electron injection layer. The ZnO layer was formed from a precursor solution on the top part
