In conclusion, we isolated and characterized stem cells from human gingival connective tissue with modified protocol. GMSCs showed multipotency with high proliferation and characteristics of mesenchymal stem cells. GMSCs are promising sources for tissue engineering and may be obtained during routine procedures under local anesthesia. Further research is needed to evaluate the potential of GSMCs' proliferation and cryopreservation.
Our results suggest that, unlike nucleus pulposus cells, anulus fibrosus cells are Fas Type-I cells, which undergo apoptosis through the death-inducing signaling complex. We also found that apoptosis of intervertebral disc cells can be attenuated by caspase inhibitors.
Single-use disposable facemasks have been used as a preventive measure against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, many researchers have found evidence that these facemasks are being dumped into lakes, rivers, and open garbage dumps. Facemasks have the potential of releasing microplastic fibers into the environment; a phenomenon that has been poorly investigated. Moreover, microplastic fibers composed of plastics have the potential of affecting the flora and fauna of many ecosystems. In this
Urease is an important virulence factor of pathogenicity of gastric Helicobacter pylori. The inhibition of H. pylori urease by the novel proton pump inhibitor, rabeprazole, was investigated kinetically. It was found to act as an irreversible noncompetitive inhibitor of the enzyme. The inhibitory potency of rabeprazole was dependent on the pH of reaction mixture and its Ki values were 0.14 microM (pH 5.0), 0.34 microM (pH 7.0) and 6.10 microM (pH 8.5). Progressive inactivation of urease by rabepr
Oyster shell powder is a potential adsorbent material that can be used to control pollution in groundwater. The current research objective is to evaluate the heavy metal ion adsorption properties by oyster shell powder in an aqueous solution. Three kinds of heavy metals (copper, cadmium, and lead) were adsorbed using oyster shell powder from aqueous solution. The effects of different temperatures, contact times, pH values, and initial concentrations were examined in order to optimize the conditi
