CYP3A5 genotypes of both recipient and donor were important factors influencing pharmacokinetic variability of tacrolimus. The recipient-donor combinational genetic effect on C/D ratio changed over time after transplantation.
The purpose of this study was to characterize the pharmacokinetic parameters of mycophenolic acid (MPA) in Korean kidney transplant recipients. Plasma MPA concentrations of 10 Korean kidney transplant recipients administered a lower dose of mycophenolate mofetil (MMF; 750 mg twice a day) were measured at 2 weeks of MMF therapy by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The plasma MPA concentration-time curve pattern of patients taking lower doses of MPA was consistent with previously repo
Atopic disease is associated with chronic inflammation, and anemia has been reported in patients with inflammatory disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and irritable bowel disease. The objective of this study was to determine whether atopic disease is associated with an increased risk of anemia. A cross-sectional study with propensity score weighting was conducted using a health insurance review agency claims dataset comprised of randomized patients who
Our goal was to help prevent drug-related morbidity and mortality by developing a collaborative multidisciplinary team care (MTC) service model using a service design framework that addressed the unmet needs and perspectives of diverse stakeholders. Our service model was based on a "4D" framework that included Discover, Define, Design, and Develop phases. In the "discover" phase, we conducted desk research and field research of stakeholders to identify the unmet needs in existing patient care se
(1) Background: The study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of clinical pharmacist services on drug-related problems (DRPs) and patient outcomes in inpatients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). (2) Methods: In a randomized controlled trial, the participants in the intervention group received pharmacist services, including medication reconciliation, medication evaluation and management, and discharge pharmaceutical care transition services. Participants in the control group received usual care.
Oral mucositis (OM) is one of the most common and debilitating complications in patients undergoing intensive chemotherapy followed by hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of recombinant human epidermal growth factor (rhEGF) oral spray for OM induced by intensive chemotherapy followed by HSCT. Patients were randomly assigned to either the rhEGF group or placebo group. The severity of OM and self-reported quality of life (QO
Anthracyclines play a major role in chemotherapeutic regimens for a variety of pediatric cancers, but produce undesirable dose-related cardiotoxicity. Dexrazoxane reduces early myocardial injury during anthracycline treatment, but data remain insufficient to fully understand its cardioprotective effectiveness in treating pediatric cancers and additional research is necessary to find efficient methods of dexrazoxane administration. Therefore, we retrospectively evaluated the cardioprotective effe
We obtained supporting information of the associations between cinacalcet response and CASR polymorphisms. CASR single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) rs1802757, rs1042636, and haplotypes of rs1042636, rs10190, and rs1802757 were significantly associated with cinacalcet response variance.
The significant association of CASR polymorphisms with several cancer risks was observed in this review. In particular, the act of CASR polymorphisms as a tumor suppressor or an oncogene differs by cancer site and can be the research target for tumorigenesis.
Copy number variation (CNV) has been reported to be associated with chemotherapy response, which affects disease prognosis. Here, we determined the frequency of genome-wide cytogenetic CNV aberrations in Korean patients with normal karyotype (NK) acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) and tested whether these genomic variations contribute to differences in Ara-C and anthracycline-based chemotherapy responses. Bone marrow aspirates and blood from 30 previously untreated de novo NK-AML patients were provid
Antibiotic use in children in Korea is inappropriately high. In addition, broad-spectrum antibiotics are used excessively.
The study was performed to compare the efficacy and side effects of azathioprine (AZA) and mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) in conjunction with cyclosporine or tacrolimus and steroids for the prevention of acute pancreas rejection during the first 6 months of pancreas transplantation. In this case-controlled study, MMF is compared with historical controls of AZA in the prevention of acute pancreas rejection. The primary measures of treatment efficacy were patient and pancreas survival rate at 6 month
The objective of this study was to analyze information on pediatric use in Korean drug product labels and compare it with that in US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) labeling information. Prescription information on pediatric use contained in the commonly used drugs' product labels approved by Korean government was compared with that approved by the FDA. Among the top 50 commonly prescribed drugs, 20 drugs were deemed to have insufficient prescribing information in Korean drug labels. Pediatri
In this study, we found that LTRA use was associated with a decreased risk of cancer. The high dose and long duration of the use of LTRAs correlated with a lower cancer risk. Since LTRAs are not yet used for the prevention or treatment of cancer, our findings could be used for developing a new chemo-regimen or designing feasible RCTs.
Compared with antidepressant nonusers, use of antidepressants was not associated with occurrence of MACEs in patients with depression and IHD. Although the overall effect of antidepressants on the risk of MACE was neutral, careful monitoring of MACE development is recommended in high-dose SSRI users.
