Justin Y. Jeon 교수의 연구실은 비만, 대사증후군 및 당뇨병과 관련된 대사 및 호르몬 조절 메커니즘을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 특히 체성지방 조절에 관여하는 호르몬( adiponectin, leptin, chemerin, MCH 등)과 신체 구성, 기초 대사율, 인슐린 감수성 간의 상관관계를 체계적으로 분석하고 있으며, 운동 및 생활습관 개선이 대사질환 예방 및 관리에 미치는 영향을 기초 및 임상 연구로 검증하고 있습니다. 또한 대장암 생존자 대상의 운동 프로그램 적용을 통해 치료 후 삶의 질 향상 방안을 모색하고 있습니다.

Obese Korean male adolescents showed reduced adiponectin levels and increased inflammatory cytokines. Six weeks of jump rope exercise improved triglyceride and insulin sensitivity and increased adiponectin levels.
A 12-week intensive lifestyle intervention significantly decreased serum chemerin level compared to usual care. Decrease in serum chemerin level was associated with improved insulin sensitivity, and this may be involved in the beneficial effects of lifestyle intervention in overweight and obese type 2 diabetic patients.
