In selected BAV patients, transcatheter aortic valve implantation may be associated with low complication rate, efficacy, and acceptable outcomes similar to those in non-BAV patients.
Eighty-two patients with traumatic anterior shoulder instability were treated with an arthroscopic transglenoid multiple suture technique (Caspari's method) and followed-up for more than 2 years. A retrospective analysis of the clinical outcome was performed to determine the factors related to poor results. The mean age at operation was 21 years (range, 13 to 50 years) and the mean follow-up period was 40 months (range, 24 to 70 months). According to the status of the ligament-labrum complex and
CT-guided valve sizing in TAVI significantly reduces the incidence of post-procedural AR compared to TEE sizing. This strategy may have the potential to improve clinical outcomes.
Although annulus rupture is one of the most severe complications of transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), the incidence and mechanism of this complication remain unclear. Out of 387 consecutive TAVI cases in our institution, the incidence of annulus rupture was 1.0% (4/387). The first two patients died because of hemodynamic collapse due to tamponade on day 0. Both surviving patients had undergone preprocedural multidetector computed tomography which revealed large calcifications in th
The TAo approach for both Sapien XT and CoreValve implantation can be used with satisfactory clinical outcome and an acceptable risk. This access route could prove a valid alternative to the transapical approach.
