켄타로 카타히라 교수의 연구실은 인지신경과학과 기계학습을 융합하여 인간의 의사결정 및 복잡한 시계열 행동(예: 뉴런의 선택 행동, 새의 노래)을 이해하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 주로 강화학습 모델과 계산적 행동 모델을 활용해 개인의 행동 패턴과 뇌 기능 간의 연관성을 규명하며, 특히 보상 예측 오차의 이질적 학습 속도나 선택의 관성 등 행동의 비대칭적 특성을 정밀하게 분석합니다. 또한 베이지안 추론과 변분 베이즈 방법을 응용해 복잡한 통계 모델의 구조를 효과적으로 추론하는 알고리즘 개발에도 기여하고 있습니다.
