Kohji Hotta 교수의 연구실은 고등생물의 발달 및 해부학을 이해하기 위한 모델 생물인 고등어류(잔드기)인 Ciona intestinalis를 중심으로, 발달 시스템 생물학과 유전자 기반 발달 메커니즘을 연구합니다. 주요 연구 방향은 Brachyury 유전자를 중심으로 한 둥근줄기세포 형성, 발달 시기별 유전자 발현 패tern 분석, 그리고 형상학적·시간적 기반의 표준화된 데이터베이스 구축입니다. 특히, 4차원적 이미징 자료와 발달 온톨로지 기반의 표준화된 자료 체계를 구축하여 발달 생물학의 정밀한 분석을 가능하게 하고 있습니다.
