An in situ cross-linkable gelatin–poly(ethylene glycol)–tyramine (GPT) hydrogel was developed as a novel injectable material for tissue regenerative medicine. The hydrogel was formed rapidly using horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The gelation times could be controlled from five seconds to over one minute by changing the HRP concentration, and the mechanical properties could be controlled by varying the H2O2 concentration. The storage moduli of the hydrogels ranged from
RGD-conjugated Tetronic–tyramine (RGD–Tet–TA) hydrogels were formed in situ, and cell attachment and spreading on the hydrogels were evaluated for an injectable tissue-regenerative scaffold. The hydrogels were prepared by simple mixing GRGDGGGGGY (RGD–Y) in a tyramine-conjugated Tetronic (Tet–TA) polymer solution in the presence of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). The physico-chemical properties such as mechanical properties and swelling ratio were evaluated and the con
Chemical antibacterials are widely used to control microbial growth but have raised concerns about health risks. It is necessary to find alternative, non-toxic antibacterial agents for the inhibition of pathogens in foods or food contact surfaces. To develop a non-toxic and "green" food-grade alternative to chemical sanitizers, we formulated a multicomponent antibacterial mixture containing Rosmarinus officinalis L., Camellia sinensis L., citric acid, and ε-polylysine and evaluated
The prevalence and characteristics of low-temperature-tolerant Bacillus cereus (psychrotolerant B. cereus) in green leaf lettuce collected during cold chain were investigated. Among the 101 isolated B. cereus samples, only 18 were capable of growth at 7 °C, and these isolates shared potential health hazard characteristics with mesophilic isolates. Most psychrotolerant B. cereus isolates contained various combinations of nheA, nheB, nheC, hblA, hblA, hblC, hb
Contrary to other solid catalysts, enzymes facilitate more sophisticated chemical reactions because most enzymes specifically interact with substrates and release selective products. Lipases (triacylglycerol hydrolase, EC 3.1.1.3), which can catalyze the cleavage and formation of various acyl compounds, are one of the best examples of enzymes with a unique substrate selectivity. There are already several commercialized lipases that have become important tools for various lipid-related studies, a
Two marine urostylid ciliates, Anteholosticha multicirrata n. sp. and Anteholosticha pulchra (Kahl, 1932) Berger, 2003, were collected from South Korea. These species were identified based on morphology, morphogenesis, and SSU rRNA gene sequence comparison. Anteholosticha multicirrata n. sp. is characterized by the following features: body size 90-125 × 30-45 μm in vivo, shape slender to ellipsoidal in outline, with yellow-greenish cortical granules distributed along and between dorsal kineties
Our results suggest that the VRFAS is strongly sensitive to changes in social competence and thus especially beneficial in short-term clinical trials. In addition, atypical antipsychotics can improve social competence and differentially improve receptive skills and expressive skills in schizophrenia.
