The epigenetic memory obtained from either bone marrow or adipose tissue favored MSC differentiation along an osteoblastic or adipocytic lineage. The methylation status of the main transcription factors controlling MSC fate contributes to the differential differentiation capacities of different source-derived MSCs.
The development of combination immunotherapy based on the mediation of regulatory mechanisms of the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) is promising. However, a deep understanding of tumor immunology must involve the systemic tumor immune environment (STIE) which was merely illustrated previously. Here, we aim to review recent advances in single-cell transcriptomics and spatial transcriptomics for the studies of STIE, TIME, and their interactions, which may reveal heterogeneity in immunotherapy
Stem cell-based therapies exhibit profound therapeutic potential for treating various human diseases, including cancer. Among the cell types that can be used for this purpose, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are considered as promising source of stem cells in personalized cell-based therapies. The inherent tumor-tropic property of MSCs can be used to target cancer cells. Although the impacts of MSCs on tumor progression remain elusive, they have been genetically modified or engineered as targeted
Cancer remains one of the leading lethal diseases worldwide. Identifying biomarkers of cancers might provide insights into the strategies for the development of novel targeted anti-cancer therapies. Leucine-rich repeat-containing G protein-coupled receptor 5 (Lgr5) has been recently discovered as a candidate marker of cancer stem cell populations. Aberrant increased expression of Lgr5 may represent one of the most common molecular alterations in some human cancers, leading to long-term potentiat
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are a promising cell resource for tissue engineering. Sry-related high-mobility group box 11 (Sox11) plays critical roles in neural development and organogenesis. In the present study, we investigated the role of Sox11 in regulating trilineage differentiation (osteogenesis, adipogenesis, and chondrogenesis) and migration of MSCs, and explored the effect of systemically administrated Sox11-modified MSCs on bone fracture healing using the rat model of open femur fract
Circulating mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is a new cell source for tissue regeneration and tissue engineering. The characteristics of circulating MSCs are similar to those of bone marrow-derived MSCs (BM-MSCs), but they exist at a very low level in healthy individuals. It has been demonstrated that MSCs are able to migrate to the sites of injury and that they have some distinct genetic profiles compared to BM-MSCs. The current review summaries the basic knowledge of circulating MSCs and their po
Cobalt-based electrocatalysts have been well exploited in oxygen reduction reactions (ORR) for potential applications in alkaline-based fuel cells.
The MnCoO x solid solution catalysts show excellent catalytic efficiency and stability in the acidic OER. The investigation and DFT studies highlight the essential role of Co 3+ and Mn 4+ cations and oxygen vacancies in the OER mechanism.
Fractures have an extraordinarily negative impact on an individual's quality of life and functional status, particularly delayed or non-union fractures. Osteogenesis and angiogenesis are closely related to bone growth and regeneration, and bone modeling and remodeling. Recently Chinese medicine has been extensively studied to promote osteogenic differentiation in MSCs. Studies have found that Ginseng can be used as an alternative for tissue regeneration and engineering. Ginseng is a commonly use
Cartilage organoids have emerged as powerful modelling technology for recapitulation of joint embryonic events, and cartilage regeneration, as well as pathophysiology of cartilage-associated diseases. Recent breakthroughs have uncovered "mini-joint" models comprising of multicellular components and extracellular matrices of joint cartilage for development of novel disease-modifying strategies for personalized therapeutics of cartilage-associated diseases. Here, we hypothesized that LGR5-expressi
Cyasterone could promote migration and osteogenesis of MSCs, and most importantly, it could accelerate bone fracture healing.Translational Potential statement: These findings provide evidence that Cyasterone could be used as a therapeutic reagent for MSCs mobilisation and osteogenesis. What's more, it could acclerate fracture healing.
