요코모토-우마코시 교수의 연구실은 부싘이완계 호르몬(코르티솔, DHEAS 등)과 뼈·혈관 건강 간의 상호작용을 중심으로, 노화 및 만성 질환과 연관된 뼈 질환의 기전을 규명하는 데 주력하고 있습니다. 특히 코르티솔 과잉 상태가 근육량 감소와 골다공로시스에 미치는 인과관계를 유전학적 접근법(Mendelian randomization)을 통해 분석하며, 당뇨병, 악성 페오크롬세포종 등에서의 골전이 및 골다공로시스 위험 요인을 규명하고 있습니다. 연구는 임상적 질환의 예방과 관리 전략 개발을 목표로 하고 있습니다.

In endogenous glucocorticoid excess, bone and vascular diseases frequently coexisted, and deteriorated bone quality, not bone loss, was related to arterial stiffness. Thus, glucocorticoid excess may perturb the bone-vascular axis.
