마코토 오타 교수의 연구실은 종양 미세환경에서 매크로파지와 종양세포 간의 상호작용이 혈관신생에 미치는 영향을 중심으로 한 암 생물학 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 특히 식도암과 위암에서 매크로파지 유도 단백질(MCP-1), CCR2, VEGF 등의 발현과 혈관 형성 간의 연관성을 분석하며, 암의 진행 메커니즘 규명에 기여하고 있습니다. 또한 생체 조직 유사 모델 개발을 통해 혈관 흐름 시뮬레이션에 적합한 소재의 물리적 특성 연구도 병행하고 있습니다.

Tumor angiogenesis requires the production of angiogenic factors by tumor and stromal cells. Macrophages are key effectors of angiogenesis and reported to contribute to tumor angiogenesis in several carcinomas. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of interactions between tumor cells and macrophages during angiogenesis in human gastric carcinomas. Macrophage infiltration into tumors and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1) expression was assessed in 72 archival specimens of gastric carcinoma for comparison with tumor vascularity. Did the 1973 and 1979 gasoline price rises change consumer views about the relative quality of different cars? This question is investigated by testing the null hypothesis that imputed characteristic prices have re- mained constant over time. A hedonic model that takes gasoline costs into account is developed and some of its theoretical implications are outlined.
Both model types were transparent and compatible with current medical imaging methods. PVA-H models exhibited much lower friction characteristics. PVA-H stiffness was closer to soft tissue when compared to silicone, allowing for pulsations during flow simulations.
