Evidence suggests that the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), HOTAIR, is involved in cervical cancer pathogenesis. We examined serum HOTAIR expression levels in cervical cancer patients and determined the relationships between HOTAIR expression and several clinicopathological factors, including survival. We also examined the functional consequences of HOTAIR overexpression both in vitro and in vivo. Compared with control patients, HOTAIR expression was significantly greater in the serum of cervical c
Proof-of-concept was provided for an electrically conductive and nanoroughened microfluidic platform-based chip designed to capture CTCs in patients with EOC. A larger patient sampling and longer duration of follow-up are needed to determine its suitability for clinical use.
The aim of the present study was to identify the specific miRNAs involved in regulation of EIF4EBP1 expression in ovarian cancer and to define their biological function. miRNA mimics and miRNA inhibitors were used in quantitative PCR, western blotting, and luciferase reporter assays to assess cell migration, invasiveness, and viability. miR-125a and miR-125b were downregulated in ovarian cancer tissue and cell lines relative to healthy controls. Increased expression of miR-125a and miR-125b inhi
In premenopausal BC patients treated with tamoxifen, abnormal uterine bleeding, increased endometrial thickness, and chemotherapy for BC were associated with the occurrence of endometrial cancer. These findings may provide useful information for gynecologic surveillance and counseling during tamoxifen treatment in premenopausal BC patients.
Among well-established CA125-related prognostic factors, serum CA125 levels after the first cycle of chemotherapy and time to normalization were the most significant prognostic factors for both OS and PFS.
Sitagliptin, a dipeptidyl peptidase 4 inhibitor, was the first in its class to receive approval from the US FDA in 2006 for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes mellitus. It has been evaluated in numerous clinical trials and has several attractive features as an antidiabetic agent, including a low risk for hypoglycemia, a neutral effect on weight, and an ability to be used in chronic kidney disease and more. This article provides an up-to-date discussion of the pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, cli
