마리코 카와무라 교수의 연구실은 뇌의 림프성 배출 기능과 신경퇴행성질환의 연관성, 특히 수면 중 활성화되는 글리mphatic 시스템의 기능과 기전을 중심으로 신경과학 및 뇌질환의 생물학적 기전을 탐구하고 있습니다. 또한 유방암 치료 분야에서는 국소진행성 유방암의 예후 개선을 위한 신속한 치료 반응 예측 기법과 IORT(일시적 방사선 치료)의 임상적 적용 가능성을 연구하고 있습니다. 특히 MRI 기반의 조기 반응 평가 및 치료 후 합병증 관리에 초점을 맞추고 있습니다.

The concept of the glymphatic system was proposed more than a decade ago as a mechanism for interstitial fluid flow and waste removal in the central nervous system. The first group of female Asian patients tolerated the treatment with IORT in this Phase I/II study and remained recurrence-free for more than 5 years after treatment. Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is the favored treatment of choice among locally advanced breast cancer patients because it significantly increases the possibility of breast-conserving surgery. Our results suggest that the application of an SCCC regimen such as EP or IP as first-line chemotherapy for patients with locally advanced SCCC may play a key role in OS. These findings need to be validated in future nationwide, prospective clinical studies.
