마사노부 야마모토 교수의 연구실은 북태평양과 극지역의 고해상도 기록을 바탕으로 과거 기후 변화, 특히 해수면 온도 변화와 해류 시스템의 기원적 기복을 연구합니다. 주로 알켄론 기반 해수면 온도 기록과 해류 강도 지표를 활용해, 적도 태평양의 ENSO 동역학, 북태평양의 열대-중위도 기후 연결성, 그리고 북극 해류 시스템의 장기적 변화를 규명하고자 합니다. 특히, 궤도 주기와 기후 시스템 간의 상호작용, 그리고 빠른 기후 변화 사건에 대한 생태계 반응을 다룹니다.

The late Quaternary records of alkenone sea surface temperature (SST) in the Japan and California margins showed orbital‐scale anti‐phase SST variations between the two margins. We have generated a high‐resolution record of alkenone sea surface temperature (SST) between 10–24 ka from Core MD01‐2421 off central Japan, in the northwestern Pacific. The cooling by 5°C from 21 ka to 12.8 ka implies the equatorward shift of the subarctic boundary in the northwestern Pacific by ∼2.8° in latitude.
