Abstract Treatment of ZSM-5 in alkaline solution dramatically changes morphology of the ZSM-5, leading to the formation of mesopores whose size is almost uniform without destruction of microporous structure.
Faujasite zeolite is synthesized hydrothermally after an aging process under various conditions. Hydrogel is formed during the aging, and the amount increases with increasing the duration. Aluminosilicate species included in the hydrogel phase during the aging is investigated for the changes in Si/Al ratios and Q units during the aging and the crystallizing processes by means of 29Si magic-angle spinning NMR spectroscopy. Aging for more than 1 day is necessary to obtain faujasite with high cryst
Zirconia coating of the mesopore walls of the mesoporous silica material SBA-15 is achieved by internal hydrolysis of a zirconia precursor, which is loaded inside the mesopores, using NH3/H2O vapor at elevated temperature and subsequent calcination (see figure). High loadings of zirconia, more than 30 wt%, can be coated on the mesopore walls without any pore blocking. A novel type of material encapsulating phase-change materials (PCMs) is reported concerning their implication for use as thermal energy storage devices. The composites of siliceous SBA-15 or carbonaceous CMK-3 mesoporous assemblies and organic PCMs could be used to make leak-free devices that retain their capabilities over many thermal cycles for heat storage/release. A confinement effect was observed that alters the thermal properties of the encapsulated PCM, especially in CMK-3 without any sim
Abstract Catalytic performance of Ir catalysts for reduction of nitric oxide with carbon monoxide in the presence of SO2 and excess oxygen was investigated. NO was selectively reduced with CO on Ir/silicalite in an oxidizing atmosphere containing 1% to 10% O2 in the temperature range of 300-500 °C. The catalytic activity was scarcely influenced by 150 ppm SO2.
Phase transformation of mesoporous silica during the drying process is investigated. As-synthesized hexagonal p6mm obtained under the conditions used in this study is transformed to cubic Ia3d as drying proceeds, even at room temperature. Prolonged synthesis results in the formation of a well-ordered hexagonal mesophase, with almost no phase transformation. Drying at a higher temperature promotes the phase transformation of not only hexagonal to cubic, but also cubic to lamellar mesophases. Rele
Ailanthione (1), glaucarubinone (2) and a mixture of glaucarubol 15-isovalerate (3) and 13,18-dehydroglaucarubol 15-isovalerate (4) were found to be the compounds responsible for the antitumor and cytotoxic activities of extracts of the root bark of Ailanthus excelsa (Simaroubaceae). The latter compound, 4, is new.
<p>Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI TOF MS) was used to analyze a series of synthetic organic ions bearing fixed multiple charges. Despite the multiple intrinsic charges, only singly charged ions were recorded in each case. In addition to the pseudo-molecular ions formed by counterion adduction, deprotonation and electron capture, a number of fragment ions were also observed. Charge splitting by fragmentation was found to be a viable route
