마소시 호소카와 교수의 연구실은 해양 생물에서 유래한 생활학적 기능성 물질, 특히 푸코잔틴, 오메가-3 지방산, 천연 항산화물질 및 생체활성 펩타이드의 생리적 기능과 기전을 규명하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 주로 해조류, 연어, 오징어 등 해양 자원을 활용한 항산화, 항염증, 항암, 혈압 조절 효과를 가진 영양보조제 및 기능성 식품 소재 개발을 연구하고 있습니다. 특히, 항산화 활성과 세포 사멸 유도 기전을 분석함으로써 질병 예방 및 건강 기능 개선에 기여할 수 있는 천연 물질의 기초 및 응용 연구를 지속적으로 수행하고 있습니다.

The apoptosis-inducing effect of fucoxanthin on human leukemic HL-60 cells was investigated. Fucoxanthin, which was obtained from the brown alga Undaria pinnatifida, inhibited the proliferation of HL-60 cells and induced DNA fragmentation on agarose gel electrophoresis, a typical characteristic feature of apoptotic cells. Phospholipase D (PLD)-mediated transphosphatidylation of squid skin lecithin with L-serine was examined to prepare docosahexaenoic acid-containing phosphatidylserine (DHA-PS).
