Our findings suggest that muscle strengthening and dynamic training, including balance training in LS stage 1 and 2, respectively, were needed for preventing the LS progression. Individuals with LS stage 3 should perform dynamic training and muscle strengthening exercises while receiving treatment for comorbidities.
Gene amplification and/or overexpression of the transcription factor c-MYC, which binds to the E-box sequence (5'-CACGTG-3'), has been observed in many human tumors. In this study, we have designed 5 pyrrole-imidazole (PI) polyamides recognizing E-box, and found that, among them, Myc-6 significantly suppresses malignant phenotypes of human osteosarcoma MG63 cells both in vitro and in vivo. Intriguingly, knockdown of the putative Myc-6 target MALAT1 encoding long noncoding RNA remarkably impaired
Resistance exercise (RE) causes an acute increase of the muscle thickness (MT) considered to relate to an increase in tissue water content. Segmental bioelectrical impedance spectroscopy (S-BIS) is a tool used to noninvasively assess intra- and extra-cellular water (ICW and ECW, respectively) of a given limb segment. The purpose of the present study was to examine the change of MT, ultrasound echo intensity (EI), ICW, and ECW after 3 sets of exhaustive RE. Eighteen untrained young males (age, 25
New brominated fatty acids (3, 5-8, 10) and new sterol esters (14-16) have been isolated from an unidentified marine sponge collected in Papua New Guinea. Their structures were determined on the basis of their spectroscopic data. A major component of the marine sponge (1) was tested for activities against Arutemia salina and some fungi.
The present study aims to examine (1) the preoperative factors that can predict postoperative falls, (2) whether postoperative physical activity (PA) mediates the relationship between fall incidence and gait function, and (3) whether postoperative PA levels are associated with fall risk in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) patients. Ninety-six patients (mean age: 72.0 ± 6.1 years) who were observed postoperatively for 6 months were selected. Timed up and go (TUG) was assessed as an indicator of gait
These findings suggest that higher VM intraMAT is characteristic of quadriceps muscle degeneration in early knee OA and its increase is associated with functional disabilities and symptoms.
CLBP patients had relative hyper rotational mobility of the spine as well as excessive spinal extension coupled with trunk rotation. These results suggest that uncoordinated trunk rotation might be a functional failure associated with CLBP.
