At magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and multidetector computed tomography (CT), artifacts arising from metallic orthopedic hardware are an obstacle to obtaining optimal images. Although various techniques for reducing such artifacts have been developed and corroborated by previous researchers, a new era of more powerful MR imaging and multidetector CT modalities has renewed the importance of a systematic consideration of methods for artifact reduction. Knowledge of the factors that contribute to
About 5% of partially cystic nodules in our series were malignant. When more than 50% of the nodule is solid and the solid portion of the nodule is eccentric, the risk of malignancy is greater. As has been noted for completely solid nodules, microcalcifications are associated with an increased risk of malignancy.
Hypoxia-inducible factor 1 alpha (HIF-1 alpha) controls the cellular responses to hypoxia, activating transcription of a range of genes involved in adaptive processes such as increasing glycolysis and promoting angiogenesis. However, paradoxically, HIF-1 alpha also participates in hypoxic cell death. Several gene products, such as BNip3, RTP801, and Noxa, were identified as HIF-1 alpha-responsive proapoptotic proteins, but the complicated hypoxic cell death pathways could not be completely expla
US and MR imaging are comparable modalities with high detection rate for the evaluation of Morton neuroma.
Sonographic findings can be useful when used alongside cytological results, especially in nodules with cytological results that are benign or suspicious for malignancy.
Obesity, which is characterized by excessive fat accumulation, is associated with several pathological disorders, including metabolic diseases. In this study, the anti-obesity effect of 6,8-diprenylgenistein (DPG), a major isoflavonoid of Cudrania tricuspidata fruits was investigated using high fat-diet (HFD)-induced obese mice at the doses of 10 and 30 mg/kg for six week. The body weight of the DPG-treated groups was significantly lower compared to the HFD-treated group. In addition, fat accumu
Three acquisitions can be enough for hepatic SWVs in children more than 6 years old regardless of breathing status or hepatic pathology. More acquisitions are recommended for children under the age of 5 years during FB.
A T2-shortening effect of gadolinium exhibits a negative correlation with the gadolinium concentration for both the signal intensities and the T2 relaxation time. A higher CNR can be obtained with Gd-DTPA on a 1.5T MRI scanner.
Dual fat fraction was not different from triple fat fraction. We suggest a cut-off value of a 6% fat fraction is more appropriate for diagnosing fatty liver on both dual- and triple-echo sequences in children.
Superficial epithelioma with sebaceous differentiation (SESD) is a rare benign neoplasm with peculiar histopathologic characteristics, which occurs in aged skin. We report upon a case of SESD occurring on the left upper back, which histopathologically is a superficial, multilobular tumor with numerous basaloid cells mixed with sebaceous cells attached to the overlying epidermis. This case represents a solitary benign neoplasm without any associated malignancy.
High-grade sonographic LSV and absent color Doppler flow on lenticulostriate vessels were significantly associated with neurodevelopmental delay.
