Purpose This study conceptualizes the digital transformation (DT) strategy in a supply chain context, identifies its drivers from intra- and inter-organizational perspectives and examines the effect of the DT strategy on the strategic agility and financial performance of Chinese manufacturing firms. Design/methodology/approach The authors constructed a theoretical model by synthesizing the diffusion of innovation and organizational information processing theory (OIPT) and provided a set of hypot
This study aims to understand the influence of COVID-19 on consumers' fears and self-protection motivations. Furthermore, the study seeks to understand the effects of these fears and motivations on consumers' intentions to use omnichannel retailing. A modified theoretical model is proposed by integrating protection motivation theory (PMT) and extending the extended parallel process model (E-EPPM). A total of 398 valid questionnaires are collected and used for further structural equation modeling
The global COVID-19 outbreak has led to significant challenges for supply chain management, while insights on how to configure the supply chain network to respond to this crisis are limited. Therefore, the present research extends the understanding of supply chain resilience by investigating whether supply chain concentration has influenced the shock of COVID-19 on firm performance. This study assesses four sub-dimensions of supply chain concentration: supplier, customer, product, and region. Ba
The interaction and coupling between the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) and tourism is of great significance in promoting industrial competitiveness. This study proposes a conceptual index system using the entropy method and the coupling coordination degree model to evaluate the coupling coordination between the MICE and tourism industries. Employing a large-scale sample of 31 provinces in China during 2011–2020, we find that the increase in the number of MICE instituti
ChatGPT is a cross-era conversational artificial intelligence (AI) programme based on a large natural language processing model. Due to its novelty, researchers know little about the drivers of its user behaviour. This study integrates perceived innovation characteristics (PCIs) and the extended technology acceptance theory (E-TAM) to establish a theoretical model to investigate ChatGPT's usage behaviour. We collected 521 valid replies and used structural equation modelling to evaluate the data.
This study examines the relationship between inventory performance and credit ratings and explores how this relationship is affected by supply chain concentration in the context of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Financial indicators and bond rating data for SMEs in China’s manufacturing sector are obtained from two large public data sources, and hierarchical ordered logistic regression analysis is used to investigate our research questions. The findings show that inventory performan
Revenge travel is a term that emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic describing people’s strong desire to travel, almost as if making up for lost time and missed opportunities. This widely-observed phenomenon is worldwide in the post-COVID-19 era, yet its drivers and outcomes remain unclear. This research primarily examines the underlying framework of destination loyalty among retaliatory outbound tourists in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. This study drew on the tourist satisfaction and d
Purpose Engaging suppliers in joint innovation can be an effective means for buyer firms to overcome internal resource/capability limitations. The purpose of this research is to investigate the impacts of cultural and trust congruences between the supplier and buyer firms on joint innovation. In addition, we examine the relationship commitment as an antecedent of cultural and trust congruences. Design/methodology/approach The study constructs a theoretical model based on social exchange theory (
ABSTRACT In an era where financial resilience and ethical integrity are pivotal to supply chain success, this study explores how firms can harness digitalization capability to enhance supply chain finance (SCF) performance, with a particular emphasis on its role in promoting supply chain transparency (SCT) and mitigating partner firms' unethical behavior. Specifically, we develop a theoretical model based on the organizational information processing theory and social exchange theory and test it
