미츠루 타나카 교수의 연구실은 생체막을 통한 물질 수송 메커니즘, 특히 혈뇌장벽과 장막을 통해 흡수되는 펩타이드의 특성과 생체 이용가능성에 중점을 두고 있습니다. 특히, Gly-Sar, Tyr-Pro와 같은 특정 다이펩타이드의 혈뇌장벽 통과 능력과 기억력 향상 효과에 대한 기초 및 임상적 증거를 제공하며, 생체 내 펩타이드의 안정성과 효능을 규명하고자 합니다. 또한, 고정밀 측정 기술을 활용한 물리화학적 특성 분석과 생물학적 흡수 메커니즘의 상관관계 연구도 진행하고 있습니다.

Experimental results from four recent research reports on the determination of the density/temperature relationship of Standard Mean Ocean Water (SMOW) under a pressure of 101 325 Pa are analysed and a new formula is recommended for metrological applications. Heterodyne laser interferometry and its accuracy at subnanometer levels are discussed. The simplest optical nonpolarization heterodyne interferometer is tested experimentally to understand and reduce fringe distortion. Apart from nutrients required for the brain, there has been no report that naturally occurring peptides can cross the blood-brain barrier (BBB). The aim of this study was to identify the BBB-transportable peptides using in situ mouse perfusion experiments. In this study, experiments on amyloid β peptide<sub>25-35</sub>-induced mice were performed to provide in vivo evidence on the potential of the blood-brain barrier transportable soy dipeptide, Tyr-Pro, in combating memory impairment. We demonstrated for the first time that oral administration of Tyr-Pro (100 mg/kg, twice a day) in mice for 16 days significantly improved impaired memory by spontaneous alternation and shortened step-through latency in amyloid β-induced mice.
To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study demonstrating that the vasoactive Trp-His is preferably transported across the rat intestinal membrane by PepT1 and is absorbed intact into the circulation. However, no absorption of His-Trp, a reverse sequence of absorbable Trp-His, is observed owing to hydrolysis by intestinal proteases. This suggests that the bioavailability of peptides may be determined in part by their protease resistance in the intestinal membrane.
