Munehiro Furuichi 교수의 연구실은 소아 감염성 질환, 특히 장내 미생물군과 병원성 세균에 의한 혈행감염, 뇌막염 등의 병태생리학적 기전을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 장내 병원성 병원균의 지속적 존재와 내성 문제를 해결하기 위해 공생 미생물 군집의 치료적 활용 가능성을 탐색하고 있으며, 특히 항생제 내성 세균과 치료 난이도가 높은 병원성 세균(예: *Stenotrophomonas maltophilia*, *Enterobacteriaceae*)에 대한 신속한 진단 및 치료 전략 개발에 초점을 맞추고 있습니다. 또한 소아 간이식 후 감염, CMV 재활성화, 항생제 내성 세균의 임상적 영향 등 소아청소년의 감염질환 전반의 위험 요인과 치료 전략을 종합적으로 분석하고 있습니다.
