The glenoid vault version could be used as an alternative measuring method for glenoid version with high reliability. In clinical use, the glenoid vault version appears to be more useful than the conventional glenoid version to assess the severity of arthritis and difficulty of glenoid replacement. The glenoid vault is not symmetric, but usually retroverted in both normal and arthritic shoulders.
Abstract Symmetrical tetraazapentalene derivatives 5 and 6 were synthesized by a convenient one-pot reaction using lithium thioureide/phenacyl chloride/alkyl (or allyl) isothiocyanate system. Unsymmetrical tetraazapentalene derivatives 8 were prepared by the reaction of various isothiocyanates with thiadiazolopyrimidine derivatives 7 which were derived from symmetrical tetraazapentalene derivatives. The structure of 5c was determined by a single crystal X-ray diffraction.
Frozen shoulder is a relatively common disorder that leads to severe pain and stiffness in the shoulder joint. Although this disorder is self-limiting in nature, the symptoms often persist for years, resulting in severe disability. Recent studies using human specimens and animal models have shown distinct changes in the gene expression patterns in frozen shoulder tissue, indicating that novel therapeutic intervention could be achieved by controlling the genes that are potentially involved in the
RAR agonists can be used to prevent the development of muscle fatty infiltration after rotator cuff tear. Nevertheless, further studies are mandatory in a large animal model to examine the safety and efficacy of intramuscular injection of RAR agonists.
Abstract The reactions of methyl (or ethyl) isothiocyanate with dianions (4, 5, and 6), which are readily derived from available cyclic thioureas (1, 2, and 3) with butyllithium, gave ring fused 1,3-disubstituted 1,3,5-triazine-2,4(1H,3H)-dithiones (7) and/or thiocarbamoyl derivative (8) as major products.
The results of this study suggest that extension of a tear into the subscapularis should be avoided to maintain the centering function of the glenohumeral joint in cases with rotator cuff tear.
