류 칸자키 교수의 연구실은 난소암, 비소세포성 폐암 등 다양한 암의 전이 및 치료 저항성 메커니즘을 해부하고자, 종양 미세환경, 특히 종양 관련 섬유아세포(CAFs)의 이질성과 기능적 역할을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 특히 화학요법에 의한 미세환경 변화가 암세포 행동에 미치는 영향, 예를 들어 Axl/Gas6 신호 경로의 활성화를 통해 치료 저항성이 유도되는 메커니즘을 단백질 및 세포 수준에서 규명하고자 합니다. 또한 폐 전이성 암의 수술적 치료 결과 및 영상 진단(예: FDG-PET/CT)의 임상적 유용성에 대해서도 다각도로 연구하고 있습니다.

The results showed that (1) surgical resection of pulmonary metastasis from RCC has a favourable outcome in selected patients, (2) DFI and completeness of resection are prognostic markers for survival after pulmonary metastasectomy and (3) repeat lung resection for metastatic RCC is a safe procedure that provides satisfactory patient outcomes.
The present study demonstrated the high diagnostic performance of FDG-PET/CT in detecting recurrences in a large group of patients with NSCLC after potentially curative surgery. FDG-PET/CT is useful not only for diagnosis of recurrence but also for detection of other diseases.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) rarely originates in extrahepatic liver tissue. Laparoscopic resection is widely used to treat HCC. Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC), which is a subtype of the nonpapillary adenocarcinoma of the thymus, is extremely rare. We report a patient with thymic carcinoma with ACC-like features presented with multiple bone and pulmonary metastases that underwent surgery. The present case firstly demonstrated that thymic carcinoma with ACC-like features could have metastatic potential.
Advanced age (≥70 years), male sex, low BMI (<18.5), postoperative complications and low preoperative % forced expiratory volume in 1 s (<80) were found to be the risk factors for postoperative non-cancer death after surgery in patients with stage I NSCLC.
