Satoru Kase 교수의 연구실은 망막 혈관 질환의 발달 기전과 치료 전략을 중심으로 한 안과 질환 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 특히 당뇨병성 망막병변, 화상성 망막병변, 페티그류 등의 혈관 신생 및 세포 증식 관련 분자 기전에 초점을 맞추고 있으며, 혈관내피세포 성장인자(VEGF), 올리고드록시프로틴(OPN), 알파B-크리스탈린 등 다양한 단백질의 역할을 분석하고 있습니다. 또한 세침표본법을 활용한 유세포진단 및 수술적 치료 기법의 최적화를 통해 임상적 응용가능성을 높이고 있습니다.

alphaB-crystallin is a chaperone belonging to the small heat shock protein family. Herein we show attenuation of intraocular angiogenesis in alphaB-crystallin knockout (alphaB-crystallin(-/-)) mice in 2 models of intraocular disease: oxygen-induced retinopathy and laser-induced choroidal neovascularization. Cell block specimens using diluted vitreous fluid demonstrated a high diagnostic sensitivity and a low pseudo-positive rate for the cytological diagnosis of VRL. The cell block method contributed to clear differentiation between VRL and idiopathic uveitis with vitreous opacity.

EpoR was strongly expressed in microvessels of all PDR membranes. The in vivo evidence in this study suggests that Epo in the vitreous binds to EpoR in PDR membranes, which subsequently leads to the proliferation of new retinal vessels. EpoR immunoreactivity in non-vascular stromal cells in PDR membranes, and IERMs and ILMs might be indirectly correlated with ischaemia.

The Fas ligand (FasL) and its receptor Fas play a key role in the initiation of an apoptotic pathway. We describe the expression of Fas receptor and ligand pair antigens in surgical samples collected from a cohot of 89 patients compared with 89 squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs), 45 dysplasias and 42 normal mucosae of the esophagus.
