Pulley instability, resulting in EOM sideslip during ductions, occurs in some cases of incomitant strabismus. Resultant patterns of strabismus may depend on static pulley positions, pulley instability, and coexisting globe translation that alters pulley locations relative to the globe. The microvasculature of the RPC network was related to the CSVD burden. However, the RNFL thickness did not reflect cerebral neurodegeneration. Noninvasive and rapid acquisition of the OCTA image might have the potential to be used as a screening tool to detect CSVD.
Primate EOMs contain substantial numbers of OL fibers. Numerical similarity of GL fibers is consistent with similar mechanical loading on each of the four rectus EOMs, as required to rotate the globe. Numerical dissimilarity of OL fibers correlates with varying mechanical loading because of varying elasticities of connective tissues onto which these fibers insert.
These data, obtained using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography, reveal differences between amblyopic and fellow eyes in the thickness of some retinal layers, including a notable difference in the ganglion cell layer plus inner plexiform layer.

Orbital layers of human rectus EOMs have significantly more muscular vessels than the global layers and stain earlier after intravenous bolus injection of paramagnetic MRI contrast. These findings suggest higher and even more rapid blood flow in the orbital layers that may correlate with greater metabolic activity. We described a structure-function relationship between the retinal changes that occur in early EON and vision recovery. Temporal GCIPL could be used to predict vision recovery at 12 months after stoppage of EMB. Careful evaluation for GCIPL damage is required for visual prognosis in early EON.

The aim of this study was to investigate extraocular muscle (EOM) volume and cross-sectional area using computed tomography (CT), and to determine the relationship between EOM size and the vertical angle of deviation in thyroid eye disease (TED).
