이 교수의 연구실은 식물의 대사 조절, 특히 항산화 물질인 플라보노이드, 이소플라보노이드, 폴리페놀 등 2차 대사산물의 생합성과 조절 메커니즘을 중심으로 연구를 진행하고 있습니다. 빛 조건, 유전자 변형, 환경 스트레스 등이 식물의 색소 형성과 생리적 기능에 미치는 영향을 분석하며, 식품 및 화장품 산업에 활용 가능한 기능성 식물 자원의 개발을 목표로 하고 있습니다. 특히 콩, 사질초, 사과, 편백나무 등 다양한 식물에서 대사체 분석과 유전자 발현 분석을 융합한 연구를 수행하고 있습니다.
