Stretchable conductive fibers have received significant attention due to their possibility of being utilized in wearable and foldable electronics. Here, highly stretchable conductive fiber composed of silver nanowires (AgNWs) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) embedded in a styrene–butadiene–styrene (SBS) elastomeric matrix is fabricated. An AgNW‐embedded SBS fiber is fabricated by a simple wet spinning method. Then, the AgNPs are formed on both the surface and inner region of the AgNW‐embedded fi
Acrylamide (ACR) is a neurotoxin known to produce neurotoxicity characterized by ataxia, skeletal muscle weakness, cognitive impairment, and numbness of the extremities. Previously, investigators reported that high-dose (50 mg/kg) ACR impaired hippocampal neurogenesis and increased neural progenitor cell death; however, the influence of subchronic environmentally relevant low dose-(2, 20, or 200 μg/kg) ACRs have not been examined in adult neurogenesis or cognitive function in mice. Accordingly,
Surface electromyography (sEMG) sensor is widely used to operate a myoelectric prosthesis and it has been further developed for various applications. In this paper, a multi-channel sEMG knit band sensor is newly suggested to be worn easily by amputee for myoelectric prosthesis. The band sensor was fabricated by knitting the silver-plated conductive yarn for electrodes with the moisture-wicking technical yarn for the comfort, ultimately, to record eight-channel sEMG signals simultaneously. Previous studies have revealed the antitumor potential of <i>Poria cocos</i> Wolf against a broad spectrum of cancers. However, the biological activity of <i>P. cocos</i> against lung cancer, which is known as the leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide, and its underlying chemical and molecular basis, remain to be investigated. We aimed to evaluate the in vitro cytotoxicity of <i>P. cocos</i> toward human lung adenocarcinoma cells with different <i>p53</i> statuses, to identify the bioactiv
The edible fungus <i>Phellinus baumii</i> Pilat (Hymenochaetaceae) has been used in Korean traditional medicines for strengthening health and prolonging life. An extract of the fruiting bodies of <i>P. baumii</i> was subjected to bioassay-guided fractionation based on its anti-inflammatory effects in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. The resulting fractions were chemically investigated, leading to isolation of three phenolic compounds (<b>1</b>-<b>3</b>), a sesquiterpene (<b>4<
Oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and neuroinflammation are strongly associated with the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD), which suggests that anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory compounds might provide an alternative treatment for PD. Here, we evaluated the neuroprotective effects of evernic aid (EA), which was screened from a lichen library provided by the Korean Lichen Research Institute at Sunchon National University. EA is a secondary metabolite generated by lichens, inc
<i>Calvatia nipponica</i> is an extremely rare mushroom with a limited number of studies on its chemical components and biological activities published. Here we report the isolation of a novel sterol, calvatianone (<b>1</b>), possessing a 6/5/6/5-fused ring system with a contracted tetrahydrofuran B-ring, and four known steroids (<b>2</b>-<b>5</b>) from the fruiting bodies of <i>C. nipponica</i>. The structure of calvatianone including its absolute configuration was determined by NMR spectroscop
A styrylpyrone-fused ergosterol derivative, ergopyrone (<b>1</b>), was isolated and structurally characterized from a mushroom, <i>Gymnopilus orientispectabilis</i>, along with five biosynthetically related metabolites (<b>2</b>-<b>6</b>). Compound <b>1</b> features an unprecedented hexacyclic 6/5/6/6/6/5 skeleton that would be formed from ergosterol and styrylpyrone precursors via [3 + 2] cycloaddition. The chemical structure of <b>1</b> was elucidated by conventional spectroscopic and spectrom
In recent years, flexible sensors for data gloves have been developed that aim to achieve excellent wearability, but they are associated with difficulties due to the complicated manufacturing and embedding into the glove. This study proposes a knitted glove integrated with strain sensors for pattern recognition of hand postures. The proposed sensing glove is fabricated at all once by a knitting technique without sewing and bonding, which is composed of strain sensors knitted with conductive yarn
The ultrafast bouncing motion of a liquid droplet has been investigated for droplet manipulation with a single droplet actuator using an electrostatic force for the first time.
